As if anyone's really buying them in the first place.

Now it's got another problem (aside from running Android): it's fugly.

LTD, I like your dedication to Apple and we both have chosen that Apple makes useful products for us.

I hope you can be objective enough to realize that the non Apple platform users are craving an alternative to the ipad in their field.

And, they don't care where it comes from or whether it was copied.

Be that because they think Apple is complicated or they have a lot of $$ invested in their PC and Android devices.

For some it's just the fact that they have a different taste or go by price.

As embarrassing as it is for Samsung (not that they think so:) to copy almost everybody in every field they also contribute to innovation and competition. Even that can come from the demand from their customers to figure something out

A little misguided and uncreative in the way of doing it, but I think over time there will be many ipad competitors that will sell well to those who don't want Apple.

In the end the courts will decide that somebody will have to pay somebody money and both will co-exist.

Happy Holidays and cheers to the ipad 3, which I may buy if it's up to what I want (2 doesn't do it yet for me)

Same could be said for assumptions without proof that Android copied iOS. Bottom line is iOS has copied many of the things Android already had... like the Notifications.

And Apple would use the same defenses that Google uses. Being "we were already working on THAT for ages but it wasn't ready so we didn't include it" or "THAT is just the next obvious step of what we already did with THIS"

And they could be just are true for both sides.

It's not a lot like iOS, that's my point. If it was, you wouldn't have both sides saying theirs is best. Both platforms have their ups and downs but they certainly aren't the same.

I really don't get why people have to argue so much about which is better, who copied who...as consumers enjoy the choice that two(3 w/ WP7) great platforms brings you. Does it bother you so much that I enjoy my Android? Or should it bother me that my wife loves her iPhone? Seems silly really

Look at the prototype Android phone posted in this thread, that's what Android would have looked like, had they not stolen Apples designs

Nope, but the legal system is. Should never have been an injunction in the first place.

Injunction was against a tablet that looked more similar to the iPad.

Before: Grandma wants to buy an iPad for her grandchild. Goes to the store, buys an iPad, Christmas comes, child cries "I didn't want a Samsung tablet".

Now: Grandma wants to buy an iPad for her grandchild. Goes to the store, grabs an iPad, looks closer, looks very close, "this is not an iPad!", and buys an iPad at the Apple Store. Christmas comes, child is happy.

No, the injunction was against a tablet that looked more similar to a community design, even more similar than the iPad or iPad 2. It never was checked against the iPad

PS. And if you buy a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 by error thinking it is an ipad is better that he goes to the ophthalmologist

too right. Apple employs the innovation. Google copies the innovation. That is why google wave, buzz, google+ never really took off. Actually I read recently that google wave is shutting down. Google don't have the right minds in their team like Apple do.

Silly people for trying to take on Facebook too. That is why Apple has no interest in trying to take on Google Search. They can see the future unlike Google lol.

Also funny that a few brands are getting scared over a little line from steves biography saying he finally cracked it with TVs. Hilarious

Apple and PING?
Apple and Mobile Me?

And it's way too early to tell if Google+ is a failure or not.

Sorry - are you equating an OS with Hardware. Because you realize that Android is an OS. Software. And the devices are hardware. Different matters altogether Boony

Yeh and Apple set the standard for community design lolz.

That is why in the early 2000s everyone was all mechanical looking for custom UIs done on PCs like aston shell etc. Now everyone does nice gradient minimalistic stuff because of os x.

Apparently alienware doesn't yet realise what design is though :p

I'm afraid this new strategy of suing rather innovating is Apple admitting, in not so many words, that their innovation is already suffering without Jobs.

If by 'new' you mean post Jobs departure you are wrong. Jobs created the whole thing. Despite the fact that Apple was often one step ahead etc, he was tired of folks just copying their IP and he put it out there in a keynote even that Apple was done just ignoring such things. They were going to the mattresses on the IP issue.

I'm scared to think that the pipeline, post whatever Steve had a final say on, looks bleak.

1. Steve had a say on things that we likely won't see for another 10 years.
2. Jonny Ive. He's pretty much Steve Jobs Mini Me

The Galaxy Tab is a POS anyway. Tried 3 different units, and every one had a UI that lagged and stuttered constantly. The device wasn't worth the legal battle fees.

What are you talking about. The notification system for Android was shown in 2007 before Cydia was even around.

Its true. Apple buys ideas and companies just like everyone else. They also steal ideas just like everyone else.

Same can be said for Android. They didnt see the iPhone July 2007 and then have a fully functional demo by Nov. 2007. Who cares anyways. Before the iPhone was the Clie, before that the Palm, before that, before that, before that. Who cares! I've never seen a group of fans like Apple fans that are so concerned with Apple being the first to do everything. Who cares!!! They make a brilliant product... done... end of story!

exactly, Siri and the Notification Center (from an cydia hacker) come to mind. i like apple but im not claiming they invent everything themself, that would be crazy talk

Well The Great Boony and macfanboi87(who I'm sure are the same person) are saying Apple is Jesus and that they invented everything.

Early maybe so but it is really lacking comparing to Facebook and FB had the head start by a mile.

Exactly. Hell without copying music would be boring. How many bands tried to sound like Led Zepplin or Black Sabbath and in turn morphed into something different. As long as things aren't carbon copies I think its good for the industry. Android and iOS are very different and people that use both daily can tell you they both do great things. They realistically don't even look the same its just those crafty pictures presented to the German courts that make it look the same.

Apparently you've never heard of Braun?

not the same person.

Why the hell would have another account posting on the same forum... To uprate myself twice? Wow I should totally do that.. not

I think from the last Samsung commercial I saw they were poking fun at the Apple fanboi's. Not every company wants to be like Apple.

They don't? Are you sure?

They take their 'inspiration' from Apple's product designs, software delivery systems and even store layouts. They don't strive to sell hand over fist and be THE fav topic of blogs and sites everywhere.

Just because Apple is making money and is successful doesn't mean its the template for success for everyone else.

I think this comment might be a tad ironic. Because Apple's template for success is to basically flip the bird at what everyone else is doing when they feel it doesn't make sense. And it very very often doesn't. Bluray licensing was a mess but even though everyone else was doing it, Apple didn't. USB ports directly into phones and tablets, nope Apple didn't do that. Using a computer OS on their tablets, nope. And so on.

It was in the 80's now Apples model of success is the Microsoft model. Buy everyone and sue everyone.

you're implying that I am stupid but you failed too read that eric left Apple before iOS was released?

The facts are out there. A brief history of Android/iOS/Apple/ Eric Schmidt:

2001 - Schmidt becomes CEO of Google.
2005 - Google buys Android INC http://www.businessweek.com/technology/content/aug2005/tc20050817_0949_tc024.htm
2006 - Eric Schmidt joins Apple board of directors. http://www.apple.com/pr/library/200...-Schmidt-Joins-Apples-Board-of-Directors.html
2007 - iPhone OS (iOS) launched alongside iPhone.
2008 - Android 1.0 launched alongside the HTC Dream
2009 - Eric Schmidt resigns from Apple board of directors. http://www.apple.com/pr/library/200...t-Resigns-from-Apples-Board-of-Directors.html

Apple Ping? Or are you only dismissing Google here and not Apple's failures for Social Networking?

And your evidence that Apple Ping failed?

Even if it did. Google has a lot more failures than Apple
