Don’t t worry about the cost, I’ve heard there’s this Nigerian prince who wants to transfer a bunch of money to you.Alright, now I can save 10% to get my cancelled social security number back from the IRS, who is demanding that I pay the amount using iTunes gift card.
Then wait a while and it will drop in price. I buy all my movies on sale from iTunes. This would be a deal if good movies were still dropping on iTunes. Even at a 10% savings, I still don’t care to spend 20 bux plus tax to rent a movie because it can’t be seen in the theater.
Can someone explain to me why are they doing this? %10 might be their profit margin?
If a game costs $10, I add $100, they give $110 I buy that game now Apple loses their 30% cut and have to pay the developer $7. Imagine a million people doing so, Apple has to pay $7M to the developer.
I don't understand iTunes Car discounts, sound like someone trading you currency for less than market value.
Sweden here. I don’t see the bonus as in the screenshot. US only?
If you have a subscription to Apple Music, will it automatically try to use money in the Apple ID before going to the credit card?
Anyone know if 3% daily cash applies if I pay for this w/ my Apple Card?
I don't know the specific details of Apples motivations, but the point behind these deals is that people are more likely to spend if they have money in accounts. The fact that people keep offering such deals suggests that is the case.
As an example (obviously each case is different).
Someone usually spends $25 a month on these products. Apple makes $7.50 a month from them.
They spend $100 on this deal and get $110 of credit. They decide to spend the $10 on a bonus game. Then, for the next couple of months they spend more because they know that they have the credit available. They burn through that $110 in two months.
In that case, Apple have made $33 in their mark up, less the $10 bonus credit means $23 profit for Apple compared to the $15 they would usually have.
Of course, some people don't spend any extra and others will spend the money they have in just days, but I'd guess that the average means a decent extra profit for Apple.
This is understandable if iTunes store was having slow sales, its about the most successful digital store. People are spending like crazy. They don't need to do this, especially with their $60B in cash.
Just got the 10% bonus - Germany.Sweden here. I don’t see the bonus as in the screenshot. US only?
Yes. It looked exactly like the screenshot in the article - just German text instead of English, of course. And EUR instead of USD. 🙂
Out of curiosity, in Germany are you able to choose an Annual Individual subscription to Apple Music as one of the subscription offers? Here in Finland the 10% bonus when adding funds to Apple ID is not available. Same with the Apple Music annual subscription.Yes. Interesting. Of course it seems Apple does not publish a list of the countries where users can benefit from these discounts. I cannot see what the logic is excluding certain European countries. I asked Support and all they advised is that I send in a feedback forum which is a waste of time as it states that they do not respond to people.
I don't know. Maybe it's some regulatory issue? Or just some arbitrary thing?Interesting. Do you think there is something in Swedish and Finnish law which does not allow companies to sell annual subscriptions as they feel it locks consumers in and if a company goes out of business then the consumer has potentially lost 11 months of a service with no refund coming back? I believe that is how it is for gym and health club memberships as too many were going out of business leaving consumers with nothing.Sweden can also not have annual Music.
I would expect it has to do with differing music licensing issues per-country.I don't know. Maybe it's some regulatory issue? Or just some arbitrary thing?
