I have not tried yet on the iPad air 2 but in the past I have received incredible deals on trade ins of iPads.

When I went into BB to see what deal I could get on my iPad 4th generation 16 GB, he gave me full value ($499). So I purchased the iPad Air 1 32 GB for an additional $65.

I think the key is to get the geek squad protection for $99.

Doing this does require returning the box and charger as well. I've done this a couple of times and they were required.

Thanks for posting this OP. It made the decision to upgrade from my 4 much easier.

I went to my local BB and they would only give me $109 on the trade in because it was in "poor" condition. It had a few marks on about a half inch of one of the edges. I don't know how they got there as I've never dropped it and it never leaves the house. Everything else was in perfect shape. I didn't argue and just left. I decided to drive 30 miles to another BB and see what would happen. The guy barely even looks at it and gives me the $243 for good condition.

I was going to get the 64gb Space grey since my last one was white but I'm in the Midwest too, so no dice. The system wouldn't even let them order me one. The salesman wasn't even sure they'd get more before the $50 coupon expires, so I went with the silver.

Also just because the website says 3-5 days doesn't mean they don't have them. The 64gb silver was listed as in stock for my local store, but not the store 30 miles away. I planned on getting the trade in and then coming back and buying it here. Well it turned out they did have them, so I just bought it there.

What the...lol Sounds like you came out on top on that trade in!

and that....although most may be surprised how many folks dont actually know how to sell something online.

That is not what this thread is about. You could probably get more money on eBay, but then you lose a lot to seller fees. And personally I cannot stand how Paypal offers no protection for sellers. I have been burnt before selling on there and refuse to put anymore profit in Paypal's pockets.

Yes, you might be able to get more on Craigslist. For me, time is money. I don't have time to drive across town and hope that I don't get stood up by a potential buyer just so I can make $20 more. To each their own.

So this thread is for people that have already made the decision to go the convenient trade-in route and how to get an extra discount that is not well known.

Yeah, I realize that...thanks for pointing it out.

Getting $200 credit for an iPad that costed you $500 at least seems like a bad move to me..

Gazelle and T-mobile both said either $80 or $85 for my iPad2. $280 off my new one was a great deal. I think they're going for $110 or so on eBay. After eBay and Paypal take their cuts, you get to wait for 6 months and hope the buyer doesn't decide they don't want it and file a claim. No thanks.

I couldn't in good conscience sell my old one to a person. I dropped it about 6 months ago, and even after replacing the glass, it was never the same.

Just picked up an iPad Air 2 128GB Gold/Cellular from Best Buy in Union Square NYC. Traded in an iPad 2 & an iPad Air received $584(includes the $50 trade in bonus). Had a store credit & used the Movers Coupon. Total price with tax OTD $141. Thanks OP

Picked up my Air 2 Cellular last night and will be returning it today.

There is a gouge in the glass. My fingernail gets stuck in it if I scratch it.

There was a fingerprint on the Apple logo before I even unwrapped it.

I feel like I got a poorly refurbed unit, not a new one. How can this even happen?

There was even what looked like dried sweat or moisture on the back of the device.

Maybe one of the Best Buy drones decided to take it for a spin?

Since none of my Best Buys will likely have any SG models in any time soon, would it work if I just used the coupons and trade in deal on a 64gb silver one and then left it unopened and exchanged for 64gb SG later?

I was wondering this myself and was not able to get a straight answer from the Best Buy forums. I got a response saying since the coupons are one use only you could not use their value when exchanging the iPad and would have to make up the difference out of pocket, but I don't know why it would matter if you are making a straight exchange.

Chicago area - South Loop Best Buy has 4 iPad Air 2 SG 64 GB Wifi + Cellular in stock. This is in store!

Hurry!

This deal is mainly advantageous for trading in the 16gb iPad 2 or iPad Mini (1st gen) for $200, which is probably the max you'd get selling it on eBay/Craigslist. That's a guaranteed $200 for selling the lowest end iPads without including a cable/charger or the hassle of negotiating with lowballers looking for a cheap deal on old iPads.

For anyone with the iPad 2/Mini 1 that's thinking of upgrading, I'd highly suggest this trade in. These 2 in particular are on their last legs and will probably join the iPad 1 next year.

The iPad Air 2 that I want does not have the option for in store pickup... I should be able to have it shipped to my house and then take it in for a return/re-buy or an exchange, correct?

The movers coupon says it doesn't work online. If it's not Space Grey you might still be able to get one. Just last night I went to a BB that said the model I wanted wasn't available for in store pick up, but they still had one.

I know the mover's coupon does not work online. What I am thinking about doing and asking about is ordering it online, and then taking it into the store once I receive it to return/rebuy with the discounts and trade in.
