Any word on the site? Still says it's down...

Getvideoartwork is an important part of my workflow. To the point that, for the first time ever, I would be willing to pay for access to it. Didn't realize how much I used it...

+1

Have got so used to the high quality artworks on there that when i tagged a few movies using 'standard' artwork, i was disgusted, have stopped tagging my movies until they either get the site back online or re-host somewhere else

found this site somewhere else...nothing of the new season yet. But I've submitted all my new covers, so if you guys do the same we may get through this until getvideoartwork is back up again...

i think that this site hasn't been maintained for a couple of years now. i too am bummed that getvideoartwork is gone. i'm using impa for now, but i'm not pleased.

I have also uploaded everything I've got (which is quite a lot) to that site over the past couple days. Hopefully someone will be maintaining it so that we can all still have access to a good library of iTunes cover art.

Get Video Artwork

It looks like it just came back online today. The quality of Artwork was top notch and now I can finally start encoding again.

Just got this email -

Hello everyone,

I apologize for the downtime for the last week or so. Apparently unlimited storage at a Web host is not necessarily true. It is in number of bytes but NOT number of files. This site had exceeded 200,000 files. I had to empty out the cache files to get the site back online and barely got away with not having this website and everyone's amazing contributions gone forever!! Hopefully everything works properly from now on, but if not, feel free to let me know by replying in this thread.

Owner, GetVideoArtwork.com

Down again. Has anyone heard from Ryno the owner of the site? I was also wondering if it has been shut down for nonmembers of the site to preserve bandwidth...?

No cause I'm a member and I can't even login or go to any section on the site. It just keeps taking me back to database error.

Thanks for the info Halo....as a member, are you able to contact the owner of the site. I'm hoping he can salvage the posted content and maybe change hosting companies or something...

and it's down again

Right after the site went down the 2nd time, as soon as it came back on, I quickly went and saved a lot artwork of movies/tv shows that I was in the process of encoding, or was possibly going to be encoding in the near future.

I wanted to be that ant that gathered enough food to last me through the winter. Hopefully the site won't be down to long this time, and if they start asking for donations to keep the site running, I would be more than glad to contribute.

Seeing as the URL for the redirected page has "suspended" in it, well it's obvious what has happened. As to exactly why though, considering Bluehost claim their hosting package provides "unlimited" data transfer, it would be feasible to assume the account's been suspended because of either unpaid bills or some sort of copyright infringement.

As for an alternative, the only other one I've found similar to it is http://valkae.blogspot.com, but it's in its infancy still and doesn't have too many tv shows/movies available. They accept uploads though like GVA. The only annoyance about Valkae I find is they cap the upload size to 1mb and require you to convert the image to reduce the filesize. Doing this invariably reduces the quality if you go about it the quick and easy way (by using MS Paint) so for movie artwork at least the quality is going to be less than that of GetVideoArtwork.

I do. That way my movies show up all purty like on my Apple TV and in my iTunes.

I understand that....its what makes the atv stand out from the pack of other media players.

You know theres like a quadrillion (well, quite a few anyway) programs that will do all the metadata work for you don't you?

MetaX
MetaZ
iDentify
iFlicks

and more that I cant recall right now.

I use iFlicks.

In my experience, every one of those programs provides sub-par artwork. Either it is dirty (review quotes etc.) or it isn't high enough quality.
