- Pools are luxury items
- Pool owners spend more time bragging about it than actually using it
- Pool owners look down on non-pool owners
- Not everyone needs a pool

Yeah, I guess the analogy is accurate.

no, where I live a pool is a necessity and you use it almost everyday.

I know its off topic to the conversation, but Im in SoCal too (Orange County). Where exactly are you that you need/use a pool everyday?!?!

This is just something that has always bugged me.
How many of you have heard numerous people (many of which never used an iPad) disregard it immediately as a "Giant iPod Touch"?

While when you think about it, that is what it really is.
However, the "Giant" part makes all the different.

A 5 inch laptop wouldn't be very useful, however a 13"+ laptop is perfectly useable. Size matters, the fact that it is so much bigger than the iPod touch makes it way more probable to use as a device for casual web browsing.

In short terms, I'm losing faith in society. Discuss.

If you read about the history of the development of the iPhone you'll see that both it and the iPod Touch are actually mini-iPads, not the other way around.

It really wouldn't hurt if it came with some earbuds though. I realize it's not a portable music player. But I use my iPhone earbuds with my iPad every night for watching movies and stuff, something apple does intend for us to use it for.

I've used my cousin's fiancee's ipod touch and it seemed very similar to me. What would you say is the difference (except for the obvious screen size, screen quality and the music app difference)

The whole users experience is different. On the iPad the level or engagement and satisfaction is higher for everything from not being redirected to mobile sites and reviewing design concepts to managing your twitter account and playing games.

It's like the difference between an affordable 3 door hatchback and a premium four door saloon. Both have four seats and fulfil the same principle of transporting people but the saloon makes driving more encouraging, convenient and enjoyable.

Calling the iPad a giant iPod Touch is generally just a derogatory remark by people who haven't experienced the device properly.
