Hi,
While working on a small graphic project in Gimp 2.6 on a Ti 1Ghz running Tiger, checked for a more recent Gimp version. And one that would run natively maybe... Found this :
https://github.com/ericwazhung/ppcOSX-Gimp2.8
Well, it's suppose to run on Leopard, but even then couldn't make it work :/
Also tried building 2.8 from Macports as it's listed there, on both Tiger and Leo it fails. Not very surprised, the dependencies list is huuuge, it fails at building glib... And i'm not very good at comprehending these compilations stuff.
Anyways, suppose it would be posted here on this forum already, but just to be sure, anyone ever managed to build Gimp 2.8 for Tiger or Leo ppc ?

Thks ! Would love to know the result.
Also found this :
http://gimp-app.sourceforge.net
It's old , but it includes a recipe to build it. Tried, but doesn't work on my machines tho :/
Funny thing is , I have another partition with Debian Wheezy on that same Ti i'm working with, and it has Gimp 2.8 ...
And Blender 2.63, better than 2.56, last one running on Tiger.
But, the challenge is to do it on Tiger , so... ;p

These OS 9-inspired icons look great. I wouldn't mind trying them out in High Sierra. :)

Some feedback, tried it yesterday but it crashed on a dependency which I didn't have time to resolve yet.

Today was Atari 130XE day trying to solder a new graphic chip onto it which didn't work so now I have no graphics , sigh ...

Thanks ! Happy you like it.
here is how it looks on the very PowerBook used to do it. Together with a Shapeshifter theme and Fruitmenu, doesn't look too bad :

Note the Classic Mac icon next to the computer name is not mine, not included in the set.
It's a png I've found googling for "mac classic icon".

Excellent icon set @galgot! Very fine attention to detail. I love the subtle textures and retro angles. It's also great to see people's custom theme/icon setups - is there a thread for this?

Also SoundJam MP is a blast from the past! It looks very much like the old Winamp with the Sony skin you're using :)

Thks, glad you like it. Yeah , love SoundjamMP, so many skins :) and can be used from MacOS 8 up to 10.6 ! Use it for listening radio.
Don't think there is dedicated custom icons thread in the PPC forum, but there is UI and customization subforum, maybe should have posted it there.
Or should i start one here ?

I'd vote for starting one here in the PowerPC forum. There are the "Post your About This Mac", etc but I think something like "Post your [PowerPC] Mac OS X Themes and Icons" would be interesting. Posts from Intel Macs welcome of course, but I think you'll find more of the old-school "themers" would be banging away on older hardware.

It seems the contemporary Apple OS designers don't like to allow people too much customization. Just look at iOS; You can move and organize your apps and change your wallpapers, but that's about as far as a "Custom look" goes.

We're lucky that in High Sierra we can still copy/paste custom file/folder icons... I have a feeling this is likely to be one of those features soon to be on the chopping list.

EDIT: Actually, here's one started by @AmazingHenry last year: Post your Theme! (PowerPC)
