For fun, in the US regarding where you live, the term for this can also differ. In some states it is called running the vacuum. But in Ohio we call it running the sweeper. Or will reference when selling one, sweeper vs vacuum is used.

OP-you’ve started similar threads before, only to find out all was ok.

Same thing here. If there was no immediate and apparent damage to your phone, it’s fine. Relax and carry on.

Much older phones might have had fragile membranes on speakers, or even older electronic devices with hand-soldered connections of variable resilience, but you should be fine with something modern.

Yes hoover, as in Hoover Vacuum. I once thought a good name for my Beagle would have been Kirby (also a brand of vacuum) because she would run around the yard "vacuuming up" all the scents in the grass.
And how many of us still "dial" the phone?
More seriously, rushing air from a vacuum can encourage static discharge, and close proximity to a weakly shielded electric motor in general isn't good for electronics.

You do realize that iPhones are pretty durable right? A light vacuuming isn't going to harm the phone at all.

These threads make me feel better about my battery OCD.

It's the same way 'googling' or to 'google' became an intransitive verb, instead of saying 'search for' something, they 'google' it.
I hope the Mods don't bust me, but since you brought it up.... In the example you give "googling" is transitive as it can, and does, take a direct object ("it", in this case) :)

There's a video of someone dropping an iPhone X from 1000 ft onto concrete and it survived. Yours can survive a vacuum cleaner lol

As long as it wasn’t a Kirby your fine. A Kirby would’ve actually shattered it and sucked up the remnants. She probably wouldn’t even have noticed she hoovered the phone at all. It would’ve only sounded like beads being swept up. You’d only find out after using the find my iPhone app and locating the pieces in the Kirby bag.

The Kirby is such a beast, it has powered wheels to assist in pushing it.

I don't think you'll face abt difficulties and if there isn't any obvious physical damage, it should be fine.

Off topic, this thread just made my day.

Open your iPad you're waiting for Christmas for. If it isn't broken (though I suspect it is) there will be a diagnostic tool on it allowing you to remote into your phone and check out the internals. Interestingly, it is an AR app, allowing you to appear inside the phone as if you were Rick Moranis in "Honey, I shrunk the kids." You can walk around inside the phone and see all the internals. If one is messed up, it will be orange.

OP has a serious paranoia about his iDevices.

I saw the thread... "Girlfriend vacuumed my X" ..... had to look twice .... ah iPhone X. Hmm. Really.

<cough>

I went from a white iPhone 6s+ to a space grey (all black) 8+. Sure collects dust like crazy - but usually a puff of air from the mouth dislodges most of the specks of dust. I really doubt that a Vacuum would have much effect on a lot of these specks but it's just me.

She cleaned your iPhone for you. You should be happy.

Yeah I think tha'd be my response too if my wife did that. Like wow... you went out of your way to do something nice for me. Thank you!
