That was probably one of the few.

My point is the only reason Apple saddled the iPad with the meager amount of RAM(during the time when RAM prices are at rock bottom levels mind you) to give you an incentive to upgrade to the iPad 2. Let's face it, most people aren't going to go crazy about a craptacular 1 megapixel camera or a faster dual core processor. The average person uses their iPad to read email, RSS and browse the web and none of these require a powerhouse CPU. However, by adding more RAM(which is dirt cheap of course) Apple can "wow" everyone with a browser that doesn't constantly crash and reload tabs along with being able to run more than 2 apps without crashing etc.

Not defending apple... Yes, they were cheap to use 256MB ram in 2010.

However, these specs don't mean anything until their OS takes the full advantage with developer's support.

I rather have 499 dollars ipad with decent specs than motorola Xoom with high end specs. I cannot tolerate 800 dollars for tablet. No. No. No.

I'm shire apple is cooking up something better and unexpected, because they know the main stream consumer doesn't rely on specs unless it's something big. Inshore they will add a camera but what else?......hmmm

I waited for ipad 2 for Facetime. It's a feature i'll use a lot.

I'm not that fussed about screen res. Sure, Retina would be nice, but it's not essential.

All this talk about ipad 3 I couldn't care less. As a device, with the camera it iwll be everything I want in the device for now and I even considered buying an iPad1 recently.

It does bug me that these corporations hold off on tech in order to get you to upgrade later, I'm sure they could have put the camera in ipad1.

They need to just at least announce the date of the next EVENT so I know when they'll tell me about the product, at least. Don't just freaking leave millions of people in the complete dark, people whom probably aren't even going to buy the iPad 1st gen anymore because of all the rampant 2nd gen iPad rumors.

I wouldn't be so sure of that, personally.

They are just after bottom line and they are only going to bleed out innovation as they need to depending on their foothold in the market. I think the only real big difference will be the camera. Slightly changed case. Updates, I find are often underwhelming. It would be nice to be surprised though.

Yeah it peeves me too. But they are just waiting to see what the competition actually launch, at what price etc. It's all a game of chess and we are the pawns.

Yes, they were the first off the bat so they could launch it with what they want. It has 2 bennefits that I see are obvious. Firstly because of the obvious upgrade you spoke of, and also it leaves the competition in the dark, the lower end of the market will fall out as they match ipad1.

While tablets I think are here to stay, the iPad will always remain ahead of the game I believe purely as Apple were the first ones in. If I see one more tablet launch that looks like an iPad i'm going to explode.

This thread showcases buyers remorse at it's finest. Why else would you create a thread convincing yourself you bought something awesome? Bottom line is; if you don't need an Ipad now, wait!

I know right. He's trying to convince himself that he made the right decision HAHAHA

Are you sure you aren't trying to convince yourself that he was trying to convince himself that he was making the right decision but in reality you are trying to convince yourself that you made the right decision? :p

my braaaaiiinnn huuurrrttssss

I'm glad I didn't wait for iPad2. Same display resolution, a tad bit more memory, and a tad bit thinner. Big deal. And probably higher priced a bit too. Would have been quite disappointing to have held off for these marginal enhancements.
Uhuh, you keep on convincing yourself that you'll be happy with your old iPad when the new iPad 2 comes out...

I've enjoyed my iPad since launch, will enjoy iPad 2 when it launches, and future models thereafter. See, I don't feel the need to convince myself that my old tech is perfectly OK, when I can just buy myself newer, better stuff.

This made me laugh cause it was exactly what I was thinking. Its early adopters trying to convince themselves they made the best decision, and putting down those who chose to wait.

So, 1 megapixel is crap for basic video calling? Riiiiight...anything higher than that and most people couldn't stream that up and down anyway.

My browser doesn't constantly crash though, so I have no idea who you are copying that information from.

I don't think Apple can win with everyone, whatever they do.

If they don't announce the event, people will complain.
If they announce the event well in advance, people will stop buying and wait, and complain if the event wasn't as big as expected after the wait and hype.

And it's reached a new level of absurdity when people are already speculating about the 3rd generation before the 2nd generation has even been announced; and claiming they won't buy the (unannounced) iPad 2 as the (unannounced) iPad 3 is so much better.

I actually pity Apple

I'm glad I'm waiting for the 2nd gen. of iPads! When I bought the 1st gen. iPod touch I was stoked, but look at how much better they got in the next release, let alone 4 generations later. The 1st gen. iPad rocks, so even if it's just a little improvement in the 2nd generation I think it will be well worth the wait.

I'm sure glad I waited for the second gen. It's soooo much better in my imagination than the 1st ever was in reality!

If that's the case with your mentioned iPad 2 features I'd still wait for iPad 2. Drives the prices of the iPad 1 right down.
