iPhone 13 Pro Max Glad I Went Pro Max!

Last year, I upgraded to the 12 Pro Max from the Galaxy S10 Plus, which was my first plus size smartphone. This year, I upgraded to the 13 Pro Max.

Though it's all a matter of personal preference when it comes to size and weight versus performance and utility, I get that everyone can choose what works best for you and should be able to without any judgment either way.

However, if you are unable to get over the immutable characteristics of size, weight and "feel" of the Pro Max and not willing to try it over at least a few weeks, then buy the smaller iPhone 13 models and not make it a big deal why you don't like the plus size smartphone.

Granted, this year, Apple made the only distinction between the two 13 Pro models the battery and screen size. However, last year, the 12 Pro Max received the best camera hardware in addition to the screen size and battery size. The larger battery and increased efficiency of the processor extends the speed and performance gains over the regular Pro model and even the 12 Pro Max.

The increased screen real estate also accentuates the perceived and actual notch size reduction thus marginally contributing to a better overall experience IMHO. It also makes taking advantage of cinematic video mode and the overall photo and video experience that much more enjoyable. I don't have to pack a tablet when I travel to enjoy the benefits of increased screen and battery size.

So you went from one large phone to another large phone. Are we supposed to be surprised that the Pro Max doesn’t feel large, heavy, different or odd to you?
Why are you like this? Every time I see you comment it's snide or belittling in some way.

On topic, I held my sister's Pro Max 12 days after I had bought my 13 Pro and really wished I had gone for the bigger model. By the time I had any free time to get to Apple my 14 day window had passed. Next year I guess.

Same. My iPhone is my most used device and I need a big screen and amazing battery life.

Plus I work from home since the pandemic so portability truly isn't an issue.

Glad I decided to stick to my gut and keep the PM! I don’t have large hands however I don’t see what all of the fuss is about!

I don't either. But as I often tell people, if you take the negative product reviews too seriously (especially the imbalanced ones - like the ones on Amazon that start out "I wish I could rate this ZERO stars"), you'll conclude that pretty much every product ever made is a piece of crap. It's best to just see for yourself unless there's some overwhelming tide of negative reviews from every corner, which obviously is not the case with this phone.

I honestly don't think of it as a huge phone. It's large, but not unwieldy at all. To me, the Pro Max seems like the "regular" size, the 13 the "small" size, and the 13 Mini--well--the "mini" size.

Upgraded from 8 Plus to 13 Pro Max (PM) and glad I chose PM instead of 13 Pro. I was on the fence as to whether or not the PM was too big and was torn between the two. The threads on here left me even more undecided as some were complaining about hurt wrists and the phone being too heavy for day to day use. Some even returned their PM for Pro’s. I played with both in the store but was still left undecided. I didn’t want to make the wrong choice as my carrier charges a $50 restocking fee to exchange devices so I was about to cancel my PM order and order a Pro instead due to all of the negative reviews about the size.

Glad I decided to stick to my gut and keep the PM! I don’t have large hands however I don’t see what all of the fuss is about! With an Apple leather case it is easier to hold and handle than my 8 Plus. I don’t even really feel the extra weight from my 8 Plus even holding with one hand. It is easier to type on as well with less errors. This screen is gorgeous and the size is a nice upgrade and worth it over the 8 plus (along with the performance). It is not heavy, yet a solid feeling of a quality flagship device that will last if taken care of. Even though still nice, I don’t believe I would have gotten the same “wow” with the regular Pro.

So, if you’re on the fence and scared of the PM, just go for it and don’t look back!
I feel the same way about my 12 max, esp. w smartish case and screen protector.

The max size iPhone isn’t as big or bad to hold as many people make it out to be. My iPhone is my go to device at office and home. The big screen and big battery is a plus. Why settle for smaller when I can go big and enjoy. Max size iPhone since the XS max. Haven’t looked at smaller options since then.

Apple makes one.... It's called the iPhone 13 Mini. Same top-of-line processor as all the other phones.

I have a 12 Mini. It's very powerful. Easily fits in my pants pocket. Great screen, battery life is just fine too. The battery easily lasts all day for me (and the 13 Mini has a bigger battery).

If you want a small powerful phone, the Mini is it!
I second that- I only charge my 12 Mini every other day, the battery in that device has gotten a bad rap. And it's the same exact camera as on the regular 12 and 12 Pro (minus the tele lens, of course).

13 Mini is even better in that it has a bigger battery, and the same camera sensor as the 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max- only difference again being the lack of a tele lens.

13 mini has the same sensor as the 12 Pro Max. The 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max have three different camera setups, main wide lens has a lower aperture and more pixels on the sensor.

So the mini will take as good portraits as a pro?

I've been debating between the two myself.
  • iPhone 13 Max is about the same overall size as the 8.
  • iPhone 13 Pro has about the same screen size as the 8 in a smaller form factor.
I am leaning towards the Max however because I want the extra screen real estate. I am far sighted and I don't want to use the accessibility/larger text options quite yet.

I haven't been able to decide either. Today I saw someone using a 13 Pro Max and it looked like they had an iPad against their face. The 11 Pro Max already falls out of many of my pockets...just thinking maybe now is the time to go back to a smaller phone than have another huge phone (I had the 8 Plus, then the 11 Pro Max). But I don't know. If the 13 PM had extra features like the 12 PM, I would definitely choose it for that reason. Now that it doesn't, I'm torn.

Loving my 13pm! Charging it every 1 1/2 days now.
In a day and age when you can charge your phone from zero to 50% in 30 minutes, why is not having to charge your phone for one and a half days some type of sought after attribute?

Why would I need to charge when it doesn’t need to be?

I really feel it whilst travelling. Usually I'll be out and about for 16 hours a day. Most of my phones have not been able to run that long with the semi-active use that's typical for travel: Photography, map navigation, texts to my wife from whom I have wandered off while trying to take the perfect picture of some belfry. Low power mode seems to do nothing except make the power drop occur in disconcerting jumps: 18% - whoops, now it went straight to 12%!

if You carry one around that’s on you. I don’t need to lol. Not sure why you care so much when I charge my phone haha.
Your phone is a huge battery pack. I guess that went over your head. Why brag that your phone doesn't need to be charged for two days? Is it too hard to plug it in for thirty minutes? You are hyping up a feature absolutely no one needs. Once a phone lasts you through a 16 hour day….anything more is pointless.

Again why do you care when I plug in my phone?
