When air came out, I was going to sell my 3 and get one. I was all caught up in the hype.

Then, I had trouble selling it to people I knew, and as time went by, I forgot all about it. The ipad 3 is fine for now. I don't notice its weight at all. And the setup at the apple store is horrible - they attach the Air to those security things (which of course I understand), but it really gives you a false sense of the device's weight. (It feels heavy in the store because of it)

Another reason for waiting is to wait for more ram as 1 isn't cutting it these days. I am not unhappy with the 3 at all and I am glad I am waiting.

Are YOU glad you didn't get an air?

Youre better off.

I sold my iPad 3 prior to announcement. Then wished I hadn't, but too late.

There's really nothing it does over the iPad. And it still has the same poor laggy performance.

I Like My Air!

My Air has it's share of issues. But then again, I kinda went looking for them. The screen issue isn't big at all....unnoticeable. The issues with iOS 7 are OS related.

I think iOS 7 has a ton of problems, and it was released prematurely. 1gb of ram on an iPad is more than enough - I never had ANY ram-related issues with my iPad 2 at all, and that had less than 1gb.

Apple has got to get on the whole iOS 7 thing - lots of problems. As soon as 7.1 is out, I'm sure these issues will be resolved.

The iPad Air really is a fabulous device - it's light, powerful and very fun! I love the way it feels, and I really love iOS 7. I just wish iOS 7 was perfected a bit more.

I'm sure that most of the people that purchased an Air are satisfied with it. However, if you have an iPad 3 -- it isn't even two years old at this point so its got a lot of useful life left. There's no reason to upgrade.

Nevertheless, you are going to get a number of acrimonious responses from iPad air owners who will be eager to defend their purchase decision.

Yes I'm happy and I know it! "Claps hands"

I'll see what the iPad Air 2 brings but really want a Power User "Pro" Model

I've had such a hassle getting an Air with a decent screen that I wish I'd kept my iPad 4.

I had a ipad 4 for ten months and sold it for a decent price and added a couple hundred bucks to get an Air. I have loved it from day 1. It's been wonderful. I have to disagree with peeps who say the air and 3/4 are mostly similar. I virtually never held my 4, keeping it in a stand always. But that changed with my Air. I'm a lot more active with it, using it all over the house and the bookstore, library, something I rarely did with 4. The previous iPads also have a pretty ugly, large, and unnecessary bezel.

My wife has the air, I have her old iPad 2. The weight difference (when I occasionally borrow hers) is quite noticeable.

I bought the iPad 3 late. like 3-4 months in
then the iPad 4 came out and I got pissed off so I sold my iPad 3 for $425 and bought the new 4th for $499 + tax. In hindsight, I shouldn't have done that. But at the time I just got my bonus so it was like

To me, it was the perfect device. I love the solid feel and the Black + Silver colour combination + the Red smart cover.

Then the Air came out so I put the 4 up on craigslist for $425.
no dice and noone bought it.
However, like you, I forgot all about it - there was nothing on the Air that made me want it! What can it do that my 4 can't?
This is in contrast to the 4S --> 5 upgrade. The 5 can actually do more stuff.
Sure it's lighter...but it's not THAT light.... and it's not that the 4 was too heavy or anything...
The screen is the same, as is the battery life.

The A6 is plenty powerful and the only performance problem I have on the 4 is probably not fixed on the air (browser not caching, due to insufficient RAM. The Air still has only 1GB)

So there's that.
I'll probably get the Air 2. For now, I'm glad I didn't upgrade to the air as it would not have added any benefits to me.

I suppose it just depends on what you're looking for in a tablet. We can all rationalize our purchase or non-purchase decisions until we're blue in the face.

If you don't think your iPad 4 is heavy and cumbersome to hold, then really there's no reason to upgrade to the Air. That much is true. For me, I DID think my prior iPads were heavy and cumbersome to hold. The iPad Air is a great improvement for me.

Love my Air, no regrets. The weight reduction alone over my iPad 3 was worth it.

I have an iPad 4 and I bought my Husband an Air for Christmas. He loves it as he came from an iPad 1 (which is still working). The Air is nice but there was no reason for me to *upgrade*. My 4 does everything I need it to, so I see it as a waste of money.

I think if you travel with your iPad then you will love the weight loss in comparison to previous offerings.

Glad I did get an Air

Yes, that's right! Not only am I glad, but IMHO I got a perfect screen/device first time out.

Yep got an rMini instead

Sold my iPad 3. Haven't looked back

Even played with an air the other day, solidified my purchase decision though it's a nice product as well

On the other end of the spectrum, I'm glad I WAITED for the Air. :) I couldn't be happier, I get a random crash maybe once a week and expect that to be fixed with 7.1.

It's been better than I imagined it would be and I've used it more than I thought I would, so for me it was a win. It's also my first iPad, but not my first iOS device.

Bought the Ultimate Crashing Machine after giving my iPad2 to my mother-in-law. Returned the Air after multiple crashes/day, and kind of hinted I want my iPad2 back, which was met with a big frown, so now I'm screwed. I'm ok with my MBA for now. Will wait until Apple figures it out.

I had 3 and 4 and now Air, it is lighter and doesn't get HOT like the other 2, also no light bleed. So yes worth it.
