Brother, you are looking waaaaaay too far into it. No glass trackpad. Not a chance! Cryptically Apple? Not that cryptic my friend. In fact, they are losing their buzz and 'cryptic-ness' day by day. New products this Tuesday will be mainstream, lack incredible new features and be more value oriented.

Get real bro, you might need to get off MR a bit more.

Ya you're right, that was crazy of me to ever think of such a thing. Thanks for straightening me out. 0% chance is the voice of reason.

NO GLASS TRACKPAD

forget this idea, i don't know who came up with it. A glass trackpad is useless, fingerprint attracting, ugly and very breakable

Yes...and not as smooth as the mat ones. Its much harder to drag your finger on say an iPod touch

True, That wouldn't be to nice.

But whose to say that they couldn't use a glass track pad with a matte finish? Glass can have a frost finish......

There's a few sites still maintaining they will be introduced Tuesday. Perhaps not on all lines or maybe even BTO. 9to5Mac seems to be developing a good track record and we shall see if that continues. According to some its beyond rumors and they classify them as "leaks."
Seth mentions it again in his most recent blog:
Glass Trackpads in At Least Some Mac Notebooks

Without trying them I cannot say I'm that in favor of the idea myself. I can see them getting all scratched over time.

I'm not dismissing the idea of a glass trackpad. Just saying I in no way see a resemblance of a trackpad in the invite. The position of the back of the screen, as well as the fact that the beam hitting the computer does not look uniform leads me away from your theory. Anyway, 2.5ish more days and we'll know.

My theory was just for fun :) but just curious about the light not looking "uniform" argument against it. Why would that make it ok for a light to be hitting a notebook like that (no one has said the invites were fake because of it) yet if its a reflection of a notebook with light hitting it then its debunked? Perhaps I'm overlooking some principal of physics here but I did state the light could have been added in post.

My thoughts were, if it was supposed to look like a trackpad, they would have added a "reflection" like it was a piece of glass. That's where the beam of light comes in to play. The beam could look like a reflection on a piece of glass, but the way the beam gets larger when on the notebook denotes that it is in fact a spot light. I just fail to see the the whole reference to a glass trackpad at that point, because I only see it as a dark room/environment with a light shining down on the computer at that point. I don't think Apple is being that cryptic with this invite. I just don't think they'd go to that extreme with this. That's just my personal thoughts on the matter. Does that make sense?

I hear u but I stated from the beginning that spotlight was in the reflection though. :D

man some of the ideas people come up with are "out there". not trying to knock the op, but the speculation always gets too crazy close to event time

Taking it TOO far

Why don't you listen to what you're saying and not read threads like this? Or better yet, visit Apple.com instead of this one and not subject yourself to rumours. One thing I don't have any tolerance for is people who run around telling people what they can or can't do, what they should believe or write in a RUMORS FORUM. Some people are just having some fun with this stuff, if you take it that seriously you should stop reading this stuff that you "hate." :apple:

I have no problem with rumors and a little speculation. I go to these websites and forums because I know there are people out there with access to inside info and sources. I don't have that. I also like to hear people's ideas about what they would like to see in a product and see if they line up with my ideas or perhaps they may think of something new that I didn't think of. The problem I have is stuff like this. The invite comes out and people are putting rulers up to their monitors (I mean displays...sorry) and looking at angles and taking measurements and looking for clues like "the corners of the invite are rounded...JUST LIKE THE TRACKPAD"...I think its a bit much. I'd like to see BluRay and a HDMI out port on a MBP...but I'm not going to disect the invite to see if its there. I'll just wait until the 14th and if its there cool...if not, maybe next time. Rumors and speculation are fine...but there is a point where it starts to get out of hand. And the start of this thread is it.

Isn't that the great thing about a free society. You can come here & get what you want out of it. If you don't like what others get out of it then too bad. Why should I have to abide by *your* standards? I'm not telling you to abide by mind here. I'm blown away how seriously some people are taking this...."out of hand" wtf? I was just having a little fun and there was something that I saw that was different than the majority. Some people asked...where the touch button? Well turns out I wasn't too far off the mark. I thought they just omitted that from the invitation....turns out they omitted it from the entire notebook. If I had said that people would have been screaming bloody murder. I was just having some fun leading up to the big day, sure didn't expect such a negative reaction. Turns out I may just have been right afterall.
