My MacBook Pro is antiglare -- I like both displays in their own respects for different applications. I think the colors on the glossy might be a bit more vibrant and the display might appear brighter in some regard, but in any kind of bright light the GLARE is horrible. The antiglare is nice for working with photos and general use, but it's only offered as a high-resolution option on the 15" -- if you like larger more visible GUI elements and have eyes that are "not so good", then the only low-res option offered is the glossy on the 15-inch.

The new glossy displays are not bad, all of them are good I think, and it's usually a tough call when buying. Most people also do not have the option to see a high-res glossy 15" in the Apple Stores when they buy, because they do not offer them in-store.

I do a lot of color grading, and work with cinema 4d, photoshop, after effects, etc and I perfer a glossy screen. The matte option may not be reflective, but it's ugly as hell. The colors look better with the glossy. And I like the black bezel.

I do agree with this. :)

I went antiglare on a 17" and love it. I will never willingly go back. I wanted to get a MBA but since it's not an option OEM...and I don't want to pay even more to have Tech Restore do it...that's out. I posted a thread so see if anyone had a source for matte screens that would fit the Air but got no replies...I'd swap it myself if the price was right.

My vote goes to glossy. I love the beautiful colors and i can do my makeup in it. :p
Although, sometimes the glossy can lie about true color whenever i work with Photoshop :(

I do photography. In my experience the glassy Mac displays are too saturated and the blacks lack some detail making it more difficult to judge shadow detail. Of course, the increased saturation of the glassy displays is a major reason why so many people like them so much.

As far as reflections go there is simply no contest: anti-glare displays handle light sources much better than glassy.

To see an excellent example of the reflective difference between glassy and matte MBP displays go to: http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/multi_page.asp?cid=7-10041-10146&sr=hotnews. The comparison is near the bottom of the page.

It's not the screen that washes out. Your eyes are not able to adjust to the sun. Big difference.

Yeah, ok. Huge difference.

I change my whole opinion now, since although the screen is still going to look just as washed out as always, now I know that it's not the screen's fault it's my eyes and so that changes everything.

The screen looks washed out, I never claimed that the screen itself washes out. I don't think that the screen sees the sun's light and the colors inside of the display change in response. In the sun, the screen looks washed out. Simple as that.

Both screens have pros and cons. Both screens are not perfect outside.

With deteriorating eyes I cannot work for any length of time on a glossy screen. LED antiglare is fine (using a Dell e-IPS U2412M) for colors.

It's personal preference, 100%.

I have a Mac Mini and a 22" matte screen. No glass whatsoever near it. It's fine, I don't have any problems with it, but aesthetically speaking I prefer glossy. I just find them nicer to look at (I mean just to look at, not necessarily use) and I also find them easier to keep clean. I can never get rid of the "muggy" look on my matte screen. I probably didn't explain that well, but hopefully you guys will know what I mean. Glass = nice and wipeable, matte = better on the eyes perhaps, but always seems a little less clean because of the lack of reflection.

Either way, I'd rather go for glossy and if need be buy an anti-glare screen protector as it seems easier to do it this way around than the other.

All things considered, I much prefer the silver bezel on the AG models to the black. I wish glossy models had a silver bezel.

I have a nice matte LCD monitor so gloss isn't that bad.

I would love to see the macbook pro's designed around matte screen and nice the opposite, so the MBP is shipped with matte but has a gloss option.

Also I wouldnt mind seeing matte touch devices I think that would be really cool, I love seeing matte screen protectors on ipads and iphones looks and feels nice.

It really comes down to using the right tool for the job. For most people, they will go glossy as it has that wow factor, photo pros tend to go matte.

Personally I never liked the glossy, though the new retina screen is converting me slowly.
