Lets see, $42.00, void warranty/Applecare, battery drain, I'll pass. I've gat a case to protect mine anyway. It'll look new when I sell it and get an iPhone 5.

Apple could never tell you took off the back unless you stripped the screws. The light turns off when the screen turns off (what i've read)...so no battery drain.

I can scratch the hell out of mine, get it dented, replaced by Apple right before the next iPhone comes out and my phone will look just as good as yours Plus I can sell it as a LIKE NEW phone since its *technically* a new phone with new parts according to Apple.

if we could somehow make it so that LED would flash for a notification, i would buy it.

it could be done through jailbreak, but the light strip would have to be modified to be turned on/off through software. It currently seems like its grabbing some current that flows only when the screen is on, and has a transistor that stores up 15 seconds worth of power after that current is shut off. It may still be impossible, as it might require some more advanced wiring that isn't present to be software-operated...I don't know enough about electronics/the iPhones electronics to say for sure

Well mine will look good when I get the 5 and keep the 4 and 4s I have now. You a crazy guy! As far as voiding the warranty.... remove and replace the back. How is apple to know? Those arguments for making reversible cosmetic changes and jailbreaking are stale and just don't hold water.

I think it's cool but wouldn't do it to my phone.

um actually I am a college student home from break, so I'll pass on the backpack as I have a really nice Incase one I use for class/iPad/Macbook pro but I do have a new pair of Nike's on the Hanukkah list! haha

but in other words most of you are saying it's not worth it hmm I don't know, I guess I will think about it ask a few friends and see.... $40 is not that bad for a glowing fruit on the back of my phone haha pretty cool I think!

If you want to really stand out amoung your friends and have your fruit glow, you should GO FOR IT!:p

Hey guys

So I wanted to see what some of you thought before I went out and got this. Saw this on 9to5mac this morning and it looked really cool! I have always wanted my logo to glow so does anyone this this is worth doing on my white 4S? I read on their website it Dosent kill the battery or anything because it's low-emitting and it seems pretty easy to install what do you guys think?

http://9to5mac.com/2011/12/16/with-40-and-5-minutes-you-can-make-your-iphones-apple-logo-glow/

I'm sure it has some impact on battery life, but if you're not stretching your battery to the limit (i.e. if you charge the phone every night) then it's probably not a concern.

It looks good in the video, and the price is pretty reasonable. I'm a "naked phone" guy so no cases/skins/bumpers to make my phone look different, this is a mod that I'd use.

You can make the current LED flash, flash when you get a notification: Settings, General, Accessibility --> LED Flash for Alerts.

Done, and done. And most of all, FREE....

I bought this for my iPhone 4S for less. It does not light up but it is a clear back...
thats pretty cool, where'd you get that back case from?

Im going to order one too! i think that is pretty trick.

OP, a lot of these people are complaining over stupid things.. a case blocking it, battery drain.. its a small led light strip. I doubt it is going to destroy battery life that much.

If you want it, go for it. Its a cool idea and i cant wait to order it. After i get my bills paid ;)

I even have a white one and i am going for it. Lol

Glowing fruit ftw

How is that cool glowing apple going to effect photo taking? Especially in the dark?

What's with all the bashing? Some people seriously have nothing better to do I guess...

I think it's a pretty cool mod. And as easy as it is to do, if your phone needs taking in for warranty, just swap the original backplate back on and you are good to go. Jailbreaking technically voids your warranty too. How many people are stupid enough to bring in a jailbroken phone to get fixed? In other words, warranty is a non-issue folks.

As far as battery is concerned, I am sure it drains some. But it's likely a small, low power, LED. I don't think it's going to suck your power dry.

Lastly, price really isn't terrible. There are cases that sell for more. Hell, almost any accessory you buy at the Apple store is going to be over $30, at least. Color change mods, which are pretty popular, are also right around that price point. Personally, with all the crap that gets bought during Xmas time"just because", if the OP would use and enjoy a backplate like this I would say go for it.

Well guys I went ahead and ordered one! White 4S version so once I get it, I will definitely try and make a video and show everyone what it's like!

30 hours left before they have to pull it due to C&D

BTW there is 13.00 shipping charge, I'm having second thoughts just because of the rip off shipping charges.

If you order it, they send you a DVD on how to do it yourself because they don't want their competitors knowing.

So their competitors buy one, rip it off and sell it for half the price. That's what I would do. Lol.

$42 + $13 shipping is too much for something like this. The back glass is like $7 shipped on eBay. If this was $30 shipped, that would be ideal.

I agree, but most Apple accessories cost too much, imo.

IMHO this is something that will look better on a black iPhone. I just don't think it will show up that well on a white one.

I do think it is an awe some idea though, maybe Apple will do this on a future iPhone.

I really want one of these, but i feel like they are saying they are going to stop selling them to sell a million in 36 hours, then continue to sell them. I just cant justify $50 for an accessory for my phone that doesn't make it function any batter.
