I use the stock email app. I always have and always will. I've never had an issue. It notifies me perfectly and "fetches" better than my dog.

Mail on iOS is a joke. It really is. No attachments, no threaded messaging, no quick change between accounts, no proper way to select all mail.

If any other platform denied these features and Apple allowed it, iOS fans would be the first to tear into the "lack of features" from the competitors.

EDIT: This isn't about iOS vs Android, mind you. I own an iPad and I want Mail to improve.

Interesting.

"Sparrow, maker of popular email apps for iOS and Mac OS X, has just announced that it's been acquired by Google. Expectedly, details on the acquisition are being kept under wraps at the moment, but company CEO Dom Leca has confirmed in a blog post that Sparrow will be joining the Gmail team at Google to "accomplish a bigger vision." Fans of the company's apps will be glad to know, however, that the team will "continue to make Sparrow available and provide support for our users" while also working on new things at Google."

The Verge says current apps will not get new features: http://www.theverge.com/2012/7/20/3172222/google-buys-sparrow-mail

The native Mail application is terrible. Messages aren't fully threaded (Inbox and Sent messages are separated), can't attach (iOS 6 will allow attaching pics and videos only; no documents or anything else), can't quickly switch email accounts (the All mail is only for Inbox). It's just frustrating as heck to use. Anyone who seriously relies on mail either for personal or work -- especially for work -- will find it cumbersome. I certainly do, especially because Gmail on Android is so much more intuitive (easy access to all accounts, full threaded messages, freedom to attach anything, swipe left/right to read the next/previous mail -- everything is just so handy and fluid).

The Gmail app on iOS is a nice alternative to Mail, but still missing some features (like multi-log ins).

And this is semi-related: Don't get me started on the horrible iOS keyboard. Trying to write a full reply in an email is a nightmare. Imagine those "Damn You iPhone Auto Correction" texts except on a larger scale.

Why don't you just buy a SGS III or Nexus if you hate mail and typing on the iPhone so much.

No attachments? I have no problem sending a receiving attachments. My messages are threaded/grouped, I and I can easily switch accounts or view all my mail in a unified mailbox with the mail app. Seriously, just switch to android already if iOS is not to your liking.

How dare u!

If u don't like something leave?!

Jesus christ the apple Koolaid runs strong in u.

I like gmail - u gonna hate on me?

Why I ought to..

I like to use the native mail app so that I have all of my email is one location... I have my two school emails (Undergrad and Graduate), my spam gmail, my "work" gmail (professional for applications when I was job hunting and my banking stuff), my actual WORK email, my icloud, and my MobileMe (now iCloud... this is all of my credit cards and student loans stuff, and the email my friends have...)

My stuff is a little messed up, because I had an original MobileMe account for the syncing of contacts and remote wipe and find my iPhone... When iCloud went live and it gave me an iCloud email synced to my Apple ID (which was different because of all the music I had purchased in my iPod days)... it got all messed up...

long story short, I have 7 email accounts on my phone, so I want them all in the same place.

I'm using the Mail app, but I am hoping that Sparrow eventually becomes the Gmaill App at some point, but I'm sure it won't.

I always used the default mail app. I found it actually quite good. Not sure what the hoopla here is about it.

The gmail app on android sucks with HTML formatted emails. No joke. I am forced to use samsung's ugly default email app on my S3.

I use the gmail app - its so much better to keep it all in the cloud when working across multiple devices

I prefer the Gmail app but it lags in the message composition window when typing! I only use it to browse through now. The native iOS email app really needs a better interface for threaded conversations.

I agree, especially being a former blackberry user. But the iPhone makes up for it in other ways, by leaps and bounds. It also helps that email is not important anymore, for me. I primarily take care of emails on my PC with Outlook.

I use the gmail App for work and the iOS app for my personal email to split up the notifications.

When ios6 is released I'll switch back do using the mail app for all mail since it'll have the ability to see unique notifications for each mail account (big feature for me).
