Why...did I have to find this thread.....

-Hearing the phrase "quick question" (I work in IT and there is NO such thing as a quick question!)

-Having people say "I have a problem with my computer, I'm sure its something simple" (Its NEVER simple)

-Over-caring people (the kind that tell you to be super careful going to the grocery store that is 5 min away, or say things like "Be careful, don't burn yourself" if you are cooking something. As if I didn't know a stove gets hot...

-"Thats what she said" jokes. Never funny...ever..

-Geico commercials, as well as the Quilted Northern commercials with the fat robot woman who says "It's time to get real about what happens in the bathroom". Really fat robot woman, worrying about how others wipe their ass is the most of your worries?

-Slow people in the fast lane of anything (driving, snowboarding, etc).

-Burping at the dinner table. Nasty.

I know I can think of a million more but I'll save them for another post :p

----------

waloshin's posts.

Thats mean but I still lol'd at it.

Studio types who mess with my MBA and MBP.

Musicians who ask to Borrow my Strat ( even though they know the answer)

Beer and pizza / fried chicken anywhere near mixing recording equipment.

Friends who ask for five minutes of my time to fix something I have shown them how to fix a dozen times before.

Many others, too numerous to mention.

While some may read this and think "This is the best thing this guy can think of that bothers him?" One thing that really aggravates me is when you're at a fast food restaurant, and you can see the food sitting in the little window, but it takes longer for the food to make it from that window to the tray to your hands than it did to cook the stuff to begin with. That really aggravates me. Other things include when you buy a combo meal at a fast food place, and they don't give you the cup until they put your food on the tray... why not let me make my drink while I'm waiting for my food to make it from the window to the tray? I have other pet peeves that don't have anything to do with fast food restaurants too, like people who insist on stopping <4" from my bumper at red lights and stop signs, and people who feel like they need to enunciate every single word during a conversation. The list goes on... I'll do some more complaining later.

People describing computer problems as "wonky". Wonky means absolutely nothing and it just pisses off IT who has to figure out what the problem really is, which means interacting with the user who will 9 times out of 10 tack on "extras" that they need done.

Another pet peeve.

I drive quit well imho. I use my turn signals all the time. As one should.

Very rarely do I ever see a person in front of me use their turn signal. They just zoom from the right lane all the way over to the left. Slow down and turn left without ever using a turn signal.

  • When people just turn up at my house with out calling ahead first
  • When i do not answer the front door, so they come around the side of house and bang on my office window until i let them in.
    • People who like to have a chat in the middle of the shopping isles holding everyone up

:D:D I get this all the time. Another one is people "borrowing" cables. I never get them back.....Grrr.

...when people call in response to a document sent to them for review and comment, then proceed to read it for the first time while I have to sit there on the phone not getting my work done.

...when people ramble on and on, thinking out loud, "Well, on the one hand... Then, on the other hand..." never coming to a conclusion, or worse yet, coming to opposite conclusions in the same conversation.

...when people agree to a certain approach to a problem, then turn around and propose the opposite approach to someone else.

...when people dis me for being annoyed by any of the above, and trying to avoid more such conversations.

Hmm, ya think maybe all of this happened recently? ;)

Anyone in a csr position, who refuses to think and instead reads the canned computer response.

Those whom do NOT read a well drafted email, and shoot back a one line response without addressing the contents of said request.

Companies too big that they can't handle the current client base, yet can handle new signups.

Companies who give better deals to newcomers than those who have been with them for ages.

I like this one. All of those drive me nuts. My biggest example relates to the last one. I had been a Elite member with AirTran for years, and finally decided to use my points to buy a roundtrip flight for a vacation for me and my wife. When I called up, they said there were no flights of any kind to go anywhere using points for several months. The reason? There had been a Wendy's promotion where buying a coke got you a point. So people who bought like 16 cokes had a round-trip flight waiting. It was ridiculous...they booked up every flight and those who had actually earned their points couldn't use them before they expired.

Customers who come in and ask for your help with a problem because they are clueless, and then want to argue with the solution you offer.

...people who write "suppose to"

...improper use of
apostrophe's (like that!)
who/whom
who's/whose
there/their/they're
it's/its (see apostrophes)
your/you're/yore (<not really)
manufactures/manufacturers
and so on...

I can not agree with you enough here, I don't know weather to be more madder at the person (Probably they're fault) or the public education system thats suppose to be teaching them how to talk.

I promise I know how to spell, just making fun.

My pet peeves:

1. People who are late (for appointments, submitting work, social meetings etc) with no excuse;
2. People who do not answer emails promptly (Not talking about social emails but the kind where you ask a question or need some info);
3. Inconsiderate parents and their offspring from hell, especially in a crowded shop;
4. My own absent-mindedness.

Edit: Two more.
5. The inability of the BBC or any other UK TV channels to commission or produce a programme without some "celebrity" presenting or fronting it…
6. Stephen Fry (that falls under the point above I guess.)

Trying to find a clip on youtube only for it to be ruined by some stupid kid who found out how to put sound over a video clip in movie maker.

Oh, and those people who have a splash screen saying "Such and such productions" only to show a clip someone else made!
