I'd like to believe that I possess a general level of understanding of the English language but this story has confused me.

It appears you were mistaken and when you were gently corrected, you got upset, ran home and posted a thread.

As others have said, you can't get iMessages outside of an Apple device but you can get a text message from someone who isn't an iPhone user on your MotoX.

You should pay attention to what LT has written. I think you're doing something wrong.

If the receiver has iMessage turned off, the sender's phone won't even attempt to send it as an iMessage because it knows that the receiver can only receive SMS. Whether the "send as SMS" option is enabled or disabled does not pertain to this scenario.

It will make a difference. I have a friend who disabled iMessage because of the bug that is still plaguing some users. When I send him a message, it tries iMessage the first time. Then it will fail and send him a text. BUT...if I have "Send as SMS" disabled, it will not send the message. So it does make a difference.

Perhaps you're right, I didn't explain it well. My issues was switching back and forth from my moto x to my two week old iPhone and that those that have iPhones can not send me a txt in any format when I'm using the moto x because the system, AT&t thinks I have an iPhone all the time.

I solved the problem by returning the iPhone and contacting AT&T that I'm staying with the moto x exclusively.

U did go to Montgomery mall... That's like the area of snotty people, one of the good places on my book haha. been there couple of times. Anyways, yea why would u settle for less?

Okay, that makes a bit more sense. In the future, you can set it so iMessage uses only your phone number by default. I text a number of iPhone users who do not know my e-mail address. iMessages are sent and received but I don't get them on my desktop (which receives iMessages). If they have my e-mail then I can get them on my computer. That is how I know the settings work and such. If that makes sense.

But anyway, your problem seems to have been solved.
I thinks that's for the best. You don't seem suited for an iPhone.
LOL what? You gotta dial that back. Everyone who wants an iPhone is suited for an iPhone. It's just a phone.

First off, you were in Bethesda, that's your first problem. You already have an entitlement problem. 2nd, what do you expect? Do you walk into Lambeau Field and shout "Hey! Which Bears jersey should I get!?". Moron.

This happened to us when my wife switched from 4s to s3 last year. She was not getting any text from me. It was going to old iPhone. I did some research, turned off iMessage on iPhone and she started getting all the text messages as sms.

I can understand that it might have been frustrating but you could have googled and found out the answer or instead of coming here and saying Apple sucks, you could have asked nicely and lot of us could have helped you out.

I hope you don't have the same attitude when you visit android forums otherwise soon you will be switching to Windows saying Google sucks.

Good luck with your phone!

Keep imessages on but put your iphone in airplane mode, and then swap the sim card. When your iphone sees wifi, you'll still be able to receive imessages.

I have always found these people to be very fair and understanding. Just someone who can work in that chaos all day, has my respect.

So I go into the Montgomery Mall Apple store, DC suburbs, to get a new charger cable because the head of the cable had come off. I check in and eventually get a new cable after first being told by two employees they don't have a replacement. Mind you it's a two week old Iphone cable. So I complain and was given a NEW cable, cool, thanks!

Then the attitude twins got even worse when I asked about Imessage and switching back and forth between my Android Moto X and the Iphone 5C.

Both told me I couldn't do it, but I'm sure I read you could. Then I hear this
"why would you want to". If I had had the box on me I would have returned the iphone right then and there.

*******s.

What I observe on your "problems" with Apple, is that almost all the replies are having trouble trying to understand why you complain about Apple staff.
To get replacements, they would call up your account to verify date of purchase. At least they did with me When my new iPad lost its facility to find WiFi. They are not going to hand out freebies on request.
iMessages....?why expect an Apple app to operate on a different system.
My take on this is that you confused the staff about the cable and they tried to explain facts about iMessages.
Advice... give full details to the Apple staff in concise but clear manner. And if you want to mingle devices apps with Apple, find the right forum or Google a question!

Obviously I didn't explain the issue correctly because I seem to be the bad guy in this issue.

The cable I got with my two week old Iphone broke, they didn't want to replace it at first because they were out of replacement cables and gave me attitude about it when I asked how was I suppose to charge MY TWO WEEK OLD PHONE.

Secondly I simply ask how to get txts from Iphone users when I switch to an Android phone because I wasn't getting them. Yes I could have googled it but I was there trying to get a cable so I thought I'd ask. Again instead of telling me how to do it they gave me attitude and asked why I would want to do that, (Switch to anything but an Apple phone).

I wasn't the one with an attitude I simply wanted a two week old broken cable replaced and asked a question that they couldn't be bothered to answer.

Morons!!

How does a 2 week old cable break under normal wear & tear? It has taken over a year for just 2 of our cables to have the fraying at the end and both of those still work fine, that is likely what they were questioning as it sounds like you actually broke it, which wouldn't be covered.

Not sure if the customer was right in this case, but recently I've encountered some terrible Apple store managers.
