I write this with such a heavy heart but I had been counting down the days for the iPhone 15 launch for months because I wanted to get the Pro model (previously had/have a 12 Pro Max). I wanted the smaller phone that would be less heavy and easier to carry around so when it came this years pro order day I had the 15 Pro in my basket, checked out and then delivered on launch day.

I LOVE the Pro but the battery is awful!!! I know I know smaller phone smaller battery but it barely lasts, for example I call my sister in law on FaceTime almost every day and on my 12 PM I could talk to her for an hour or two and battery wouldn't be a issue and I'd still have plenty to go on for the rest of the day but with the 15 Pro for example, I was talking to her today on 100% and an hour later I was on 48% and it was on 12:30pm so I had to recharge later in the day...

I also noticed the Phone heats like mad when talking on it, I had to take my case off for it to cool down which was annoying. I know phones heat but the phone was HOT!

I guess I'm just looking for others who have been in my position, who have had to go to the Pro Max because of issues with the Pro this year... last year... ever?

I think it is hard to go from a Pro Max to a regular Pro if you are a heavy user. On the flip side, I went from a mini to a Pro, and the battery is phenomenal. I am at 65% now, and with the mini I would have already charged 3 hours ago.

The Pro Max is personally too large for me, but I am always envious of that battery. There is something really nice about being able to use a phone all day in any capacity and not run out of battery.

I am definitely moving that was as well. I upgraded my old 11 (standard 11) to 15 Pro and have not been thrilled with the battery so far. It's better than my 11, which was really worn out from 4 years of use, but I wouldn't say it's a ton better. Since Friday, I have been near zero percent battery life at the end of each day. I remember when I first got my 11, I thought I could even get 2 days of use at it at the start.

I will admit I was really on the fence between the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max at the start. Decided the 15 PM might just be too large and I'm still worried about that. Giving it a day or two and will decide.

Yeah I'm with you on that, I'm going to return my 15 Pro tomorrow and go back to my 12 Pro Max whilst I look around for a 15 Pro Max but I think for me, the 15 Pro battery is going to cause issues because it doesn't last and I can't always carry a power bank with me.

Made that mistake with the 13 Pro, I sold my 13PM because I wanted to go back to a smaller sized phone. Never again, haha. Pro Max is just so nice. I use Spigen liquid crystal / clear / ultra hybrid magsafe cases on my phones and the 15PM with magsafe case is actually smaller than my 14PM with liquid crystal case. It's much easier to hold than the 12/13/14 PM. Perfect size for me.

I bought the X which only came in the 5.8" size, and then when the 12 Pro series came out, I went with the 12 Pro for 2 reasons: 1) the screen was now 6.1" so I figured that would be a nice compromise and 2) the 12PM was released several weeks after the 12P, and I didn't want to wait. Always regretted that decision as the battery was mediocre. I always wanted to avoid the larger size, but I was always envious of the battery.

Went with the 15PM this time around and man I like it. I'm glad Apple slimmed down the weight and overall size becasue I find this to be perfect. Any additional weight or size would start to get cumbersome. It's still a very large phone but I can fully manage it no problem, and the battery life so far is really great.

Wanted to be fine with the Pros, but they just can't pack enough battery for me.

Main reason why I finally talked my wife into a Pro Max. She complained frequently when her 14 Pro Battery died and I haven’t heard a peep about battery life since going 15 PM. I think the battery life difference becomes more pronounced the heavier the phone is used and she uses hers heavily.

Why do people view having to charge your phone for a few minutes during the day, a death sentence?

I'd wait. The heat issue is wide spread and is killing the battery of even the Max's that have the issue. With a software update in the future it should fix the issue.

Just don't want you to be stuck wondering what "could have been"

I’m with you. Just returned my 15 pro. Always been a “max” guy since they started offering the larger size phones. Wanted a smaller form factor after the brick of a 14 pro max so went with the pro this time. After one day, I knew I needed to track down a pro max. A big benefit is the weight of the phone is less this year so the 15 pro max is actually easier to handle. The extra battery life was just too important in the end. I even wanted to give a 15 plus a try after seeing the battery results on some reviews but the pro cameras are too good.

I'm waiting.

I backed up my 15 Pro today with the intention of returning it but I can't seem to let it go. The size is perfect and just what I need.

Coming from a 12 Pro Max and all the other plus/max sizes before that I was secretly hoping I'd hate it and it would be my excuse to get a 15 PM but nope.... I don't think I'll go back to a Max again.

What’s been your impression of the Pro’s battery?

It drains slightly faster than a PM but I can understand that's because the battery is smaller so that'll take getting used to really but I do think it has something to do with the software so I'm happy to wait for any updates.

I also went with the Pro this year over the Max. I like the size of the Pro but can't help but feel like I'm missing something by not having the larger screen. I can't seem to get over that feeling that I'm going to regret going smaller in the long run.

FWIW, I am not having battery issues with the Pro at all — day 1 was rough but after that it's been fine. The iPhone is also my one vice, so I buy a new one every year and sell the old one. So I only have to deal with my decision for a year.

I can't seem to make up my mind. I feel like if the Max was readily available right now, I'd have already traded the Pro in, so that's probably the direction I should go.

If i were a woman with a big purse pro max wouldn't be a problem but i'm a man.
I’m a woman who doesn’t carry a purse and I love the pro max size. It’s never been too big for me and I definitely can’t imagine going smaller.

Agreed, if the PM was available I'd probably have exchanged it by now but I'm not going to wait around for it either... I'd rather just get on with it and a next September will be here before we know it!
