Not driving. I keep kosher, so it shouldn't be a problem. My entire class does too, so that shouldn't be a problem either.

Sounds like you'll be well adjusted and will have a great time. Oh and I wouldn't worry about any of the crime..... if anything there is petty crime (just like every major and minor US city). Just be aware of your surroundings and don't become complacent and you should be just fine.

I'm in Israel!! My first generation iPhone is handling Orange IL like a champ. Though I guess orange is only GSDPA and 3G because I am only getting a little G next to where it says orange in my menu bar. On the bus to get to the school we're at, I did notice that Israeli drivers are particularly crazy. I'll post back here once I load 50+ NIS on this sim card. I'm running on about 5 NIS, or about $2.

It's grat to be able to speak hebrew with the locals. I hope to expand my hebrew vocabulary here. Posted from a stupid WinXP computer here (sigh). It's great here, except for the awful jetlag. I just learned that iPhones are often stolen here, so I have to be VERY careful with my 2G and 3GS.

Slightly OT: marijuana to Israelis is as bad as cocaine is to us Americans. They think that marijuana is horrible, while we Americans can get a prescription for it if we have a cold.

Very much on topic: I have already gotten a slight Israeli accent in my Hebrew. I have also noticed that I use grammar in English in the same way that I use it in Hebrew. עכשיו, אני אוהב לאמור ״שברתי את האנגלית שלי,״ אבל זה לא עברית כל כך יפה. I am still getting acclamated to the Hebrew keyboard.
