One thing I'm wondering is...

What's stopping someone from making a 30 minute appointment for the edition, then deciding halfway into it that they want to try the other models? It'd be foolish to turn away a sale, and I can see a lot of people making these appointments just to try on the Edition with no intent on buying, then walking out with one of the lower models, or with no watch at all...

What in the world are you talking about?

My response was for someone who said a person who doesn't have a lot of money has no business shopping at an Apple Store. That is an elitist comment.

You appear to be very lost.

People who don't have a lot of money probably are not best off by buying Apple's overpriced products and typically they are not Apple product buyers. That is a fact. Apple product owners tend to be better educated and better off economically . Calling me a elitist for pointing out a fact is just bizarre.

Oh great, 20 year olds who live off ramen and shop exclusively at thrift stores are going to give fashion advice to people willing to purchase a $10k + watch.

I see no way this could go wrong.

Gonna buy the $350 watch? We'll give you 15 minutes of our time. Gonna buy the $17,000 one? We'll give you DOUBLE the time!!!

I just prefer not placing people into categories and pre-judging them like this. It's weird to me.

Definitely not a behavioral trait that I see as positive.

employees getting "extra training" hmn...so

After submitting audited financial records certified by a licensed CPA, they administer psychotropic drugs to the client and show them informational videos about the Apple Watch for about 15 minutes. Clients then know exactly which Edition model will completely revolutionize their life for the next 3 generations of their family line and proceed directly to checkout. Probably all done in less that 20 minutes. Oh YES!!!

This Apple Watch hype is getting absurdly ridiculous. It's so freaking hilarious that I fee I should be paying for the comedic value. I hope SNL does a spoof on this.

I mean, drop the Apple Watch in a barrel of goat milk and I sware the thing would turn the milk into ripe cheese within 30 minutes.

things like this just remind me...

I was so fortunate to escape the retail workforce when I did. How nausea inducing..!

I used to work for Fossil selling watches and it is seriously the worst work ever. I enjoyed my time at KFC more than any retail job I have ever worked.

I sure hope Apple has special "safe rooms" ready for the high end shoppers complete with secret exits & plain, brown paper bags for the goods.

Plenty of people walk out of Tiffany's and Cartier with clearly branded non-brown bags. Shopping malls and districts with these high-end stores usually have more local area security than you think.

but you had no problems placing me in the elitist category for pointing out a fact? Yeah, I guess I am the one is who is lost. Carry on.

I never once called you elitist. I don't even know who you are, nor was I even talking to you to begin with.

My original comment did not mention you or refer to you. It had zero to do with you. You decided to butt in about something you weren't even involved with and tried to make it about you.

That's not a positive behavioral trait either, by the way.

> server in a restaurant

> is considering buying a $700 smartwatch

Sure thing, Apple. Sure. Thing.

GOD, how I wish I was this out of touch!!!!!

Lol... it must be nice to be rich enough to assume everybody that doesn't have your same career must not be able to afford anything at all.

I really don't give a crap which :apple: watch Lee buys, whether he can afford one or not, whether he's making big bucks at CheZ Crapola or minimum wage at Wendy's, but I find this whole marketing campaign offensive for some reason that I've yet to figure out.
I guess it's just my personal aversion to ostentatiousness combined with my disgust over the whole concept of a gadget watch costing $17,000 - limited quantities or otherwise.
I won't be getting an:apple:watch, now or any time soon.
As some have said already, a solution in search of a problem...

If I spend $10,000+ on a time piece, I expect it to be an heirloom I can pass onto my children. Only way I'd buy a gold AppleWatch is if I were able to upgrade the innards for every generation for a reasonable price of say $350-500 (i.e. the cost of a new AppleWatch, or simply exchange the old model for a new model for the same price.) As it stands this is a watch for people for whom money is no object.

For 30 minutes, I should get 30 minutes with Tim Cook showing me the watch and telling me why I should buy it.

Not Smart

Some of these comments point to the problem with this elitist approach. There is the story of the "bag lady" who shopped in Tiffany of 5th Avenue. She was looking a diamond rings, selected one that was pricey, and paid for it with cash pulled from a paper bag. There was this "kid" who looked at mansions on Chicago's north shore. When the supercilious real estate asked him how he planned to finance such a purchase, he responded, "do you take cash." He bought the house. Remember Julia Roberts' character in "Pretty Woman?" To the nit wits who think that a waiter cannot afford an Apple watch...I say this to you...I dated a fellow who was a waiter in a 5 star restaurant. Not only could he afford any watch made, his Father was a zillionaire and his family was very prominent in Oklahoma. Their vacation home rivaled that of Ted Turner in Montana. Judging a book by it's cover is a fool's practice. As an aside, I never thought much of Burberry. They should have gotten someone from Cartier. They have maintained standards throughout the generations.

I see no way this could go wrong.

If it does Angela Ahrendts will find her reputation in tatters as her head rolls.

Was his name Ruprecht?

$700 is a lot for a watch, yes, but it's not unobtainable for a waiter... that's like saying that a waiter can't afford a computer.

It's certainly a questionable choice, but I think it's a luxury that pretty much anyone with a job could afford.

True. It's not like there aren't many people today plopping down $700 for a new iphone when they should be putting that money in a savings account or investment.
