I had planned to get the silver (had a silver 6+) and made a last minute decision on the gold. I thought it wouldn’t be quite so rose colored, but I really love it! I got a clear case with black accent from Caseology to be able to enjoy it.

I went to the Apple Store yesterday to get a gold watch with pink sand sport band. When I saw the phone in gold I loved it. I was leaning toward the X, but when I saw the iPhone 8 in gold I decided that was the phone I wanted. Nothing against the X, but the 8 is a better choice for me. I prefer the size and weight. I hope I won't be sorry when I see that oled screen I was excited about. I got the Apple leather case in Cosmos Blue for it as I can't see taking a chance on dropping it unprotected.

I wasn't keen when I first saw pictures of the Gold, I really liked the Rose gold in the previous iPhones but in person, it's just beautiful. The back isn't so much gold, or blush or whatever, but it's like a creamy colour. It's the most beautiful colour that's available, I think! I'm really impressed with it.

Personally, I love the silver phone. What would keep me from getting it, though, is I want a black front. If that doesn't matter for you, the silver is really beautiful.
 
Not a fan of white screens so I don’t think I’d buy a gold again. It looks nice though.
 
I have a confession...I exchanged my gold for a silver yesterday. I wanted to love the gold, but too close to rose gold for me. I kept telling myself it is copper, but just had to exchange it. My girlfriend has a true gold iphone and this bluch gold bothered me. Loving the silver though. Enjoy the gold all!
 
I love the Gold colour. I was surprised because I really didn't like the look of it in the pictures, but in person it's beautiful. I love the sort of creamy colour at the back with the bronze/copperish colour along the sides. It's just beautiful. And the glass back compliments it perfectly!
 
I have a 7 + so not getting the 8 +, BUT if I did I would get the Gold. I played around with it at the store and its stunning.
 
My gf got the gold 8 last week. Gorgeous colour.

Only thing is the glass back is so slippery it’s extremely difficult to remove it from my Apple battery cases. That’s only a minor annoyance however.

I walked into a Verizon store on launch day for the 8+ after finally deciding to go with that one over the X. I expected them to have all the color options since there was no line and was planning to go with the silver...except they did not have the silver. I have always wanted the gold but never got it before this year. I did not want a gold one this year because it looked rose gold in the pictures. Well, it is beautiful and I am very happy with the color.

Perhaps you meant grippy? It's an extremely easy phone to hold onto because the glass provides such great traction.

Yup it’s not grippy such that taking it out of the Apple battery Case is defintely not as easy as taking an iPhone 7 out of the Case.

If it’s not grippy, it should be hard to hold onto and would slide in and out of the case easily.

If it’s grippy, it should be easy to hold and hard to remove from the case.

Do it if you really think that is what you like better or you may regret your decision not change it later.

What do you think of the Watch in gold? I got the same model delivered on launch day but really dislike it. All just too bubblegum pink for me. Have ordered the stainless steel watch instead.

Same but at least if they do a gold X down the line there will be no white screen / bezel to irritate us!

Overall am disappointed that for years I never liked gold so didn't wear gold jewellery for example. Now I love gold and Apple bring out a gold that well isn't gold. Love my champagne gold MacBook as that shade is perfect!

I almost went gold for the 5S, but just couldn't bring myself to it. Gold didn't look quite right to me when it came time for my 6S+ either. But for the 8 Plus, if I wasn't holding out for next year's X ver 2., I'd definitely go Gold this year.

I'm lusting after it right now, in fact; perhaps I may just upgrade to the 8 Plus gold yet, if I don't hear anything but spectacular feedback from when the first X models hit the street.
 
Was originally after the X, but when the gold 8 showed up on the keynote I really loved the look of it, and wanted it before the X took the stage. Ended up with the gold 8 as the X didn't add enough for me.

Have a clear Spigen case on the way so I can see the gold still, but this time round I bought AppleCare, probably will just go naked.

My recent phones I always go with a non black/white/silver, if the manufacture has them and are nice. Had a gold 5S and rose gold 6S. From the Android side orange Z3 compact and orchid grey S8+
