I’d recommend everyone give WBlock a try! Developer is very active on Reddit, it just released and uses AdGuard’s filtering, the design of the app is lightweight and Liquid Glass for those who care, and it has been less problematic on select sites than Wipr has been.

Thank you, very interesting.

Free System wide adblocker : DNSsecure

"DNSecure is a configuration tool of encrypted DNS for iOS/iPadOS. An encrypted DNS service you configure will be used system-wide."

This worked really well for me on my ipad air 2 before i sold it a few months ago .
I second this. DNSecure is excellent. It allows you to block ads system wide on both Wi-Fi and mobile data via encrypted DNS. I use the AdGuard DNS (Ads/Trackers) server and never see an ad anywhere on my iPhone. There are plenty of other servers to choose from and you can even add your own custom server.

I use Orion browser as my primary web browser on iPhone. It's practically identical to Safari (WebKit) and has a very good built in ad blocker (based on UBlock Origin) that even blocks YouTube ads. It also allows you to install Firefox and Chrome extensions.

I use Brave browser primarily for watching YouTube as it blocks all ads, allows background playback and has an offline download option.

Lastly, I have UBlock Origin Lite installed as a Safari extension. It only recently came out for Safari on iOS and macOS.

I browse via duck duck go, no intrusive ads & any links to u tube work. Occasional u tube may say video can’t be played outside u tube so I just find another link to the video which works.
I do find msn, yahoo links & metro (uk) never work on DDG but that’s fine, they’re 🐕💩 anyways!

I am still using 1Blocker besides NextDNS on Mobile and PiHole at home.
I know now it is expensive but as legacy User I already paid it and I am not using the "VPN"-Feature so it only works in Safari. For the rest I have my DNS Blocking stuff. The good thing about 1Blocker is, that I have a custom section where I can set exceptions.

I just checked the Github and if anyone asks me I guess I would recommend them Wblock and add Hagezi Blocklists.

Wipr2 is fine but for me the Problem there is, that you can`t set any specific Blocklists or whitelist anything. The Dev sets what lists will be used. This is fine for everyone who don`t want to take care of it.

1Blocker, which I've used for years, successfully blocks ads and trackers in and out of the browser. It does some odd local-VPN-profile trick, but there's no outside connection or anything like that.

Hi, after 4 days with wblock on ios 26, I'm happy with it.
And the good news, is that the MacOS version appears today on the Apple Store. So, I'm testing it since a few hours, and it seems good. Faster than Adguard on Speedometer.

I have a strange request. I visit a lot of forum sites like this one. In some of them, folks post tweets from Twitter/X. The adblocker I use, Ad Blocker, works well but it also blocks the Twitter posts. So if I want to see the post I have to disable the blocker. So, does anyone know of a blocker that will allow a Twitter post to come through without having to disable it but still be effective on other stuff?

Thanks for any thoughts.

@Gator5000e I am not sure which ones can do that but with 1Blocker you can choose if social widgets should be blocked or not. You can set it global or for individual sites.

That`s why I like 1Blocker. I used it since the beginning and I think I paid 10$ as a onetime purchase. Now the onetimepurchase is 40$ or 15$ a year. It is quite expensive and I am not sure if I would pay that today. But if you want a powerfull app and you have the money to spend, you won`t regret it.

AdGuard Lifetime is good and works on YouTube.

I "paid" for it with free points from my bank account (so no actual cash used)

uBlock Origin Lite would be my alternative choice but I have too many iOS 17 and under devices so that doesn't work.

Testing wBlock . I can't seem to add the icon in my tool bar. Can anyone tell me what I'm missng please ?

Nevermind , it finally showed up .
