After being on here and going through several releases (tonight is the first night it appears I will be getting the IPHONE PLUS on launch day). I've been within seconds the last three years of when preorders started and had to wait 6-8 weeks for my handset to arrive.... sometimes it was color preference, but mostly, it was demand. The fact two hours after launch you can go to any carrier website and get any "8" or "8 plus" you want, doesn't surprise me in the least.....

For those of you holding out for the "X" expect SPRING before supppy meets demand. Seriously.... Expect a message like this on on the 27th

"Thank you, we have received your order. We expect your shipment to ship 2/22/2018"

It could be some of us don’t see that much of an improvement in the 8 to pay more than last years model or the fact there are no 128 versions.

Also you correct that many of the hard core users are holding out for the X but I expect two things with that release. Short supply and lack of interest due to lack no Touch ID, notch, cost.

I’ve bought almost every iPhone during release except for the 4s and I’m actually going to skip this year. Don’t need the 8 aka the 7s and the iPhone X is a first gen release.

I’m sure next years model will have the fixes X users want. For now Apple is still getting money. If they have low sales this release then maybe they will listen to customers.

Ok thanks.

What was the point of this being a new topic?

The point was and is clear.... the orders for Iphone 8 appear to minuscule meaning when production of the "X" is even more short handed than any previous Iphone model according to rumors and less folks opt for the alternative...... your wait time is going to be huge

Bruh believe it or not, that's what we crave for. Lol the challenge of best preorder time.

Even if only 10% of iPhone users buy the 8 it is still 10% less pre-ordering an X.

We don’t know how much stock will be available. The push back to Nov has got to help. Hopefully things won’t be too bad.

Well February isn't too bad. Lol, my Christmas decorations will probably still be up because every year I try to take them down in January and the family yells at me to leave them up or I get the flu and am too sick to take them down. We decorate big and it's the work of several days to undo it all. Last year I nearly ran into Easter. By the sounds of it, Apple may be running on the same schedule when it comes to delivering the iPhone X. It is crazy that a 2017 phone for the 10th anniversary could end up being a 2018 phone. It's not likely but I would not be shocked.

I'm actually liking the 8 Plus. I keep shoving different colored ones in my shopping cart but my husband and I are arguing about waiting for the iPhone X. I think the X already seems like a bit of a nightmare here and there and now we are arguing about stuff we have read about the user interface and features. We are both going to be zombies when our alarms go off for the real start of the day. Oh well, I got what I really wanted to preorder tonight and it's the thing that really got me excited about the Keynote, much to my surprise, and that's the LTE Apple Watch. Oooooooo!

At this point I'm burned out reading about iPhones and trying to figure out what model and color I want. Whatever. I'm sticking with my 7 Plus for now and waiting for proper reviews or wait to see one in a store or something. When I'm really up and awake and had my morning coffee we will see if I feel differently. Zzz zzz zz...

You are making the assumption that Apple has not increased production of the 8 and 8 Plus. Given that it's nearly a carryover from the 7 and 7 plus, it's not unimaginable that they are better tooled to have lots of supply.

I'm not saying you are wrong, but there is another possibility you haven't considered

In the end, Apple will sell way more 8 and 8+ units than the X model.

Because of two reasons. Affordability and availability. The iPhone X is not for everyone, as it's due to price point and it will not be available for those who do not get a pre-order in relatively quickly.

Honestly, I don't know about this (and I say this as someone who is buying an 8). It think reviews are going to matter here. A lot of people just may hold on to their existing phones until an X is available.

Apple has probably made many more iPhone 8's this year, the probable reason that the iPhone X won't be available for pre-order until 27th October is because of supply, this extra time frame gives Apple more time to get supply up. Will the iPhone X sell out within minutes? at a guess yes, personally i hope not because i want to buy one :D

Gonna hold out for next year when hey implement the iPad ProMotion feature on the next iPhone to make the experience smooth. This year it's not much of an upgrade at all. I expect next year to have battery upgrade, ProMotion, better face ID, no more camera cutting into the screen area, and maybe we will get better Oled screen because this years iphone X oled is far inferior than Samsung oled.

From my understanding, most people won't see their iPhone X orders until well into 2018. Don't be upset if you're quoted up to 8-12+ weeks for delivery.

Even if Apple have low figure sales (based on people not wanting the X), they can easily blame it on their suppliers or lack of supply/slow production/north korea or what not. Apple will never admit that the phone was a bad design or priced too highly.

In fact I'm surprised people say the iphone 8 is somehow affordable, it remains a phone that is very near in price to the X, if a person can afford an 8 or 8+ they can most likely afford an X. That's just the reality of Apple's (and Samsung led) crazy pricing. What I don't quite understand is why many smart phones cost more than tablets now.

Might well be but your understanding is just a guess at this point.

Apple didn’t just pick Oct 27th out of the air. They will know how much stock they will of built up by that date.

People will be waiting weeks and weeks. Everyone with inside knowledge of the supply chain have been saying this for the last 6 months.

Thank you for making sense of this. So many people questioning why October 27, it's likely the understanding of how many units they will have available during production during that specific time frame. It's not like they just chose October 27 because they thought that would be the best date for Apple. They did that for a reason, knowingly will have XYZ units ready for a November 3 launch and production needs.

My iPhone 7+ is really cool, but I do like the X and will order it. So a slightly longer wait isn't a real hardship even by first world standards :)

Completely agree with the pessimistic predictions.

55 launch countries, first redesign in many years, first OLED phone, production problems = delivery times of 6-12 weeks.

As an Apple shareholder I urge everyone to buy the iPhone X. In fact, order one for every family member.

Oh, yeah, I am sticking with the 7+. Good enough ;-)

Even with the wait, it’ll be the only new iPhone worth buying this time. The 8 and 8 plus are just not worth the money today when they differ so little from the now discounted 7/7+ and cost almost the same as the X.
