How about words that you'd like to go out of fashion?

Like "hella". One of the banes of northern California existence.

*shudder*

Noooooooooo! It's definitely a hella tight word, so you can't get rid of it. :D

Not exactly a word that's gone out of fashion, but no longer used properly: Official.

Now it's a good word, gone bad.

Just because you say it's official doesn't mean it is. Case in point: "It's official: Macbooks have bad thermal paste applied". The only way I would consider this official is if Apple Computer admits as much.

"Personal Responsibility" long out of fashion
"Solar Power"

ok, enough with the snarky

lollygag
vociferous
vehement(ly)

Words I wish would die:
hecka (like hella for dumber people)
proactive

I went through a spell of (unintentionally) using the word 'patently' a short while ago. Everyone within earshot mocked me for it, too.

I image that was patently annoying.

Another archaic word: abstemious.

Once a fairly common way of describing people who refrained from drink during the days of the temperance movement.

pulchritude

As in, "You are exhibiting great pulchritude this evening, my dear."

(Beware using this term in real life. You are liable to be kicked in the kneecaps, whether or not the person you so describe knows the meaning of the word.)

What are lyrics by now wirnkly Australian rockers w/ beer guts, Alex.

EDIT: after reading this thread again, I've been thinking I'm just a pompous ass who uses obscure words to sound smart when the reality they only prove how pretentious I am. Ok, I didn't need this thread to make me realize that.
