Good words that have gone out of fashion.

Wow. I use almost all the words herein mentioned as appropriate, but I must say "meretricious" is my favorite, and one of my favorite words generally. Someday somebody's going to look that up and be really upset with me. Its etymology makes it even better.

"Well, that's an entirely meretricious idea, John, but if I may suggest another..."

I have, however, never been cruel (or hypothetically suicidal) enough to say to anyone, "that dress makes you look positively meretricious!"

Modern language is mostly rather boring nowadays. I wish we could all take a trip back to when everyone actually SAID something when they spoke.

Noooooooooo! It's definitely a hella tight word, so you can't get rid of it.

Sheesh, I remember this growing up in NorCal in the 80s. Everything was "hella bad". Ack!!

Watching some of the old Frank Sinatra/Dean Martin movies, they called women "skirts" and "broads". Maybe they were on to something... HA!

I use surly and facetious aswell as moot and people are like "WHAT?".. pfft.. I am not the smartest guy on the block, but when I use words (and i could sit here and list them all day.. some of you have already pointed some of them out) that people should know and they don't.

Amen to that. It's a terrible slang as far as slang words go.

"Superb" is a nice word.
