RCS is not MMS or SMS, it replaces those. It would enable you to send messages over wifi or cellular data to people over RCS. If the person you are messaging doesn't have RCS you would fallback to SMS or MMS.
You can send group messages with pictures over data with RCS, but like with iMessage it may just fallback if someone in the group doesn't have RCS.
WhatsApp is a terrible idea. No thanks.
I like signal, just needs a bit more adoption.

All Google cares about is removing Apple's competitive advantage.
I like iMessage and it is my most used app on iOS and would like to have a modern standard interchange protocol so I can use iMessage with all the people on Android with all its features . That would be the day I can leave WhatsApp behind (or Apple release’s iMessage for Android so there is no need to switch between messaging apps)

I just use WhatsApp. Everyone has it on their phone. The only SMS texts I get are those "enter this code" ID verification texts. And the only people who ever send me Apple iMessages are Americans!
That’s pretty much where the world is (with WhatsApp instead of email). SMS-to-customers from businesses is most of the SMS traffic these days and still makes big money for the carriers. The reason why RCS won’t happen is, since only businesses is using the current SMS and they won’t want to pay any upcharge to the carriers to SECURELY let you know you have a payment due, they’d be building something with no way to make money off it.
You have your analogies incorrect. RCS is another Flash.
And, even more than that, specifically ONLY a US problem. Google isn’t pushing for this anywhere other than the US.

Yup, and that's even without google's extensions. It's a proprietary, outdated, legacy technology that's being perpetuated by a company unable or unwilling to move to a modern platform.

Google is misleading the audiences. iMessage is far ahead of the game. RCS is like SMS v2 but still behind and they stated 'improved encryption' can still very well be "read" by the backend door.
Don't really care who's right and who's wrong. It would be nice to be able to send and receive videos with Android users without it coming in all small.
Of all the apps to use, that's the last one I'd ever consider. Meta? Nope.
If you want a third party app, Signal is the best option.
Apple can’t do it without the carriers, and the carriers aren’t interested. That’s been the story since before Google started this crusade and it’ll still be true when Google eventually gives up on it.
Maybe Google should release an RCS app for iOS, problem solved.
RCS is better all around than SMS. Why is everyone here being pro Apple when clearly apple is in the wrong?
Apple will adopt RCS eventually. They’re just waiting to make sure it’s actually here to stay given Google’s history with their messaging platforms.
iMessage is vastly better than RCS. Why would they want to go backwards?
And the RCS standard is very different from the google proprietary flavor. If Apple does anything, it'll be the standard, not the competitive product.
