Scum of the earth Schmidt ..

Really? Do you know him well enough to realize what a horrible person he must be to classify him as 'scum of the Earth?" If so, could you elaborate as to what he has done that is so awful to merit such a title?

Competition is to see which company can make the crappiest products.

Apple has been been on track lately making crap with the bendgate, updategate, ios8 gate.

No wonder the competition is brutal

Where'd this whole -gate naming convention come from? (Yes, I know about celebgate, but why -gate??)

It is only a matter of time before Apple launches "Apple Search" and makes it default

I give it ~ 2 years. Likely, via several M&A purchases (including DuckDuckGo)

And when that happens, Google is going to take and immediate 20%-25% hit to it's revenue

And if Apple decides to take on Search on the same scale as Google, Apple consumers are the losers.

Are you serious?

Watergate.

Build quality? Are you kidding me? The f.ing phone bends in the pocket.
The last well built iphone was the 4s.

They don't just magically bend in a pocket. But, if abused it can bend. So can high end android phones as many internet images demonstrate. Even the previous iPhones could be bent.

"Samsung had these products a year ago"

I don't seem to remember a high end android phone as thin, lite and with a build quality like the iphone 6.

To be fair....
everything that is 'essential' on the iphone 6, with the exception to the touchID was on samsung first....

Apple basically took the s4 (which, in my opinion is flawed, both in the quality of its hardware, ecosystem and operating system) and made it near perfect with the iphone 6.

The game which schmidt is alluding to is the 'one-up' game that is indeed going on. One does something different, the other takes it makes it better...then vice versa.

But make no mistake, this generation round, the 'first' one to the party that brought something new and different was Samsung.

Apple was 'first' on the iPhone 4 generation. Ignored the competition somewhat with the iPhone 5 generation then played catch-up with the iPhone 6.

Let me stop Apple bashing for a second to say that my Gold iPhone 5s is astonishingly nice. It's about one of the nicest things I've ever touched. That's why I'm so disappointed in the 6/6+. I was hoping for even better. I was hoping for

Bezel-less
2 gigs ram
Sapphire display
Rock solid construction
Waterproof
Wireless charging
256MB storage
5 Inch display

Oh well. Maybe next year.

Steve was convinced that the open-source operating system was built on intellectual property created by Apple. Eric responded that we hadn't used Apple's IP and had in fact built Android on our own. But his argument was to no avail. "They are going to fight us," he thought.

SJ was subbon, you can't have a discussion with people like this, who think only in black and white.

If its anything like Apple Maps… no thanks.

All companies wish they could generate excitement and hype like Apple - and they do a damned good job - even if the products aren't cutting edge technology…

If google didn't steal from iOS why did their prototypes drastically change after the iPhone's unveiling?

When questioned about how he feels driving past an Apple Store and seeing people lined up around the block to purchase an iPhone, Schmidt said "I'll tell you what I think. Samsung had these products a year ago." The interviewer further notes that nobody "had a huge party" and Schmidt reiterated that Samsung had larger phones first once again. "I think Samsung had the products a year ago. That's what I think."

Exactly... those products were available for over a year and people didn't feel any reason that they had to have it on day one.

I went to my local Apple Store on Monday at lunch and there were easily 60 people deep waiting.
Millions aren't lining up for your Samsung product saying take my money on day one.

Nobody cares what you think. Same with Samsung - so they released large smartphones before Apple. Big deal. Being the first to market with a 'feature' does not miraculously mean it's being better.

Do these guys honestly believe that the average consumer will hold an iPhone 6 Plus and say "This is thing useless; Samsung released big phones first!"

Clutchin' at straws...

Probably best not to mention the build quality of the 6 right now :)

But it's hilarious how he totally misses the point. They can quote sales figures and features all they like but the fact remains that people don't queue round the block for the latest Android phones. The Android fanboys try to ridicule Apple's cult following when, in reality, the Android phone manufacturers would kill to have it.

Now , what the hell is bandgate and ios8 gate now , then?

By bandgate , do you mean U2 thing, or that few poor souls that doesn't
understand properties of alluminium ?
And by that , I mean they spewed 4-6 millions of phones, so few of them
went on a wedding, got drunk, and went on an iPhone 6 bender ..

By updategate, do you mean that thing with 8.0.1 that happen just now, and how is it a gate already?

By iOS8 gate , do you mean that my 2yr old iPhone 5 is working flawlessly on iOS 8.0 , or is this some thing I don't know about ?

How about that samsung Apple gate gate, that somebody tries to produce nonexisting gate gates all the time ?

How about when you buy Samsung S5 of 16 gigs - you get 8.5 gigs free ?

How is that never a gate ??

You tell me now !

Why don't people like Schmidt?

Not sure, maybe it's because he was on Apple's board of directors while being an executive at Google during the time the iPhone was in development.

Steve Jobs felt betrayed when Google, shortly after the announcement of the iPhone, began to copy iPhone features for Android.

This is something both Android and iOS folks don't seem to see. Competition only benefits us, the consumers. We don't want anyone to go out of business. The more players there are, one upping each other, making the other have to make their product bigger and better, the better the products are for us. With no competition, Apple or Google have no need to release anything better the next year because they're already the best option.

He's said a lot of creepy, anti-user/anti-privacy things. His attitude toward you as the product leaves something to be desired

(Plus he was on Apple's own board, and then Google, having bought Android, suddenly changed its course from a Blackberry clone to a way-too-close iPhone OS clone. Good business! But a betrayal from Apple's perspective.)

Have you seen an Iphone bending in someones pocket?

Or did you just see a pic of a bent iphone?

Because someone said it happened doesn't mean it occurred.

This is the internet where people can anonymously say and post anything.

There would be no hit returns on bending and cracking a Samsung or HTC phone, just as there is no one lining up for them day after day.

They don't have to steal.

Go read the history of Android, you'll learn something, instead of jumping on the 'Google are thieves" bandwagon.

Do you consider Apple have 'stolen' from microsoft ( flat GUI look ) or Android ( notifications etc ), word prediction?

I personally, love to see him. I love to see Android and other entities flourish! I love, love, love to see competition; it's the best thing in the world. Competition keeps prices lower than what they could be, innovation flowing and pushes stalemate ways away.

So go Google, do yo thang!! We over here at Apple will just keep the carrot in front of your mouth as you continue to strive.. Thanks for the attempts!
