One thing I like about Chrome over Safari on iPad is that on Safari, when opening a new tab, it immediately went to the search box and highlighted it. I hate at and oftentimes wanted to go to bookmarks instead.

Now in Chrome, it just opens the tab waiting for me to decide what I want to do. :)

Not being able to access this is the UK is making me feel like a Third World country.

No direct link in the app store yet ... but if I go via a link in safari, I click on FREE to Download and then it says "the item you tried to buy is no longer available"

wth? Im in the UK ....

Is anyone getting horrible stutter when scrolling up and down on the iPad (3rd gen) and, to a lesser extent, the iPhone (4S)?

Not me. I have iPad (3rd gen) and 4S, it's working well for me. Try deleting it and reinstalling it or just restart the device.

UK People who cant download

At this point in time to download this app you have to create an american itunes account

This link will explain you how to do it

Then once you have created and logged in to your american itunes account go here to download the app

It has worked for me, I would advice you to do it quick if you really want the app as the app could be pulled

This is incorrect.

I was able to download it from the UK store just fine (and not that long ago - even after all of the "It's been pulled" reports).

Bash Google all you want, but they move the web forward. While everyone else was getting complacent, Chrome innovated and the result is now that it's the most popular browser in the world.

V8 is a marvel of modern software engineering. Nitro doesn't even come close to V8, sorry. On most javascript benchmarks V8 is 2-3 times faster. It's all about javascript performance since all modern web apps use it heavily.

To those that whine about privacy: have you actually researched it? Chrome doesn't send any additional info than what other browsers do. The unique ID header was removed in version 4.1. You also get incognito mode, which wipes all your cookies on exit so ad companies can't track you.

Remember Microsoft getting in trouble for Internet Explorer? How long until Apple is forced to let us choose our own default browser! I want this to be the default browser on my iPad so bad.

Apple does not have to and never will. They own the hardware, the software - the whole platform. The MS deal is/was a totally different situation since Microsoft only owned the software and licensed it to cloners.

When you license out to third party players you have to somewhat play fair but if you sell the whole platform as one thing you do not have to share.

Apple is allowed to keep it as closed or as open as they please.

Besides you can still use other browsers just not as the default browser.

Yahh, I hate it too.

I can't download the Chrome app.

it says downloading in iTunes but i can't find it only purchased on my iPod.

Google announced today that it is releasing a version of its Google Chrome for the iPhone and iPad. The company says it will go live on the App Store later today. Macquarie analyst Ben Schacter predicted last month that Google Chrome was coming to iOS.

While Chrome for iOS will include a number of key features, including incognito mode and tab syncing across devices, the browser will still use Apple's WebKit-based engine required by the App Store developer guidelines. It also will lack the Nitro JavaScript engine that Apple uses to speed Safari's performance. But, there is one main obstacle to Chrome on iOS, as noted by The Next Web:

You will only need the US account to download, then after you have downloaded and synched the app to your phone you can log out and forget about the other account.

Apple might not pull the app, but Apple has a history of pulling apps they dont like the look of from the app store, but recently they have become more lenient hence Opera can be found on the app store.

Couldn't agree more

Does anyone know if you can import your bookmarks over? I signed in with the account I use on desktop and my bookmarks are no where to be found.

Very impressed. I've tried other browsers and they all suffer in comparison to Safari. The only request I have is to have "one touch" access to my Bookmarks. Google, figure out a way to do this, whether it be swiping or something. On the mobile environment, bookmarks are vital due to slower typing. One extra touch may not sound like a lot, but it's clearly an annoyance already.

Other than that, it's the slickest browser on iOS.
