I have never used chrome browser on any platform I'm willing to give it a whirl if I know it's not sending lots of browser data back to google like opera does.

Safari on windows is majourly awful, IE 9 even kicks its ass! I've always used safari on Mac as it usually is the better rendered browser, Firefox needs to go on a diet.

Apple have pissed off a lot of users by giving XP users iCloud but not snow leopard!

Chrome is working fine on both my 3rd Gen iPad and iPhone 4S. AWESOME! :D

On a side note, my co-worker who has an iPhone 4 said that Chrome runs significantly slower when comparing side-by-side with my 4S. Anyone else seeing the same thing on their iP4's? I'm pretty sure it's due to the 4S having more CPU power.

Point taken. Incidentally, since you always have well reasoned positions, would you be up for sharing what you dislike about Safari? I've never understood the appeal to use another browser, but perhaps my needs are too plebeian.

To be honest, it's because I use Chrome on my PCs (Safari on Windows is a definite no-go), and the syncing really comes in handy.

Also for some reason Safari still suffers horrendous memory leaks on my Lion install, slowing the whole system to a crawl after a few hours of usage.

If I remember correctly this is MAC RUMORS right?! :roll eyes:
I can't believe how willing people are to share every personal detail with a company that only makes money from selling your detail. They spend millions to give things away so that suckers who want something for nothing will gladly sell their souls to them.

That post just highlights how little you know about what Google actually does with personal details. I suggest you look it up before posting in the future. A few key points:

- Google has never sold personal details, and as per their own privacy policy, can not sell your details without your consent.

- Nobody has access to any personally identifiable information.

- Only a select few bits of information are used, namely your location (if provided), search history and browsing data (if the site you visit is running adsense, like MacRumors).

- If you are not opted in, it wont collect any info

- The info it collects is used solely to work out (automatically) what ads to show when you visit sites running adsense (again, like MacRumors).

- At no point is this information given to any advertiser. Advertisers instead target their ads at keywords, and if the keywords match up to the generated keywords for your recent activity, the ad is show (again, only if you are opted in).

Google even went to the effort of including an automatic 'opt-out' in Google Chrome to prevent tracking from them.

A quick review of chrome on iOS while I'm here:

On the iPad 3 it was noticably more snappy than Safari this morning. I've not had a huge amount of time to play on it yet so will detemin if this was a one off of it is indeed a lot faster - it certainly felt it.

The syncing of your details is excelent. I was able to pull up tabs on the iPad that I'd just opened on Chrome on my mac - a great feature.

Full password syncing across devices is now supported as well. The browser also has incogneto mode for those who are...um...shopping for a present for the other half ;)

I also tried it on an iPod Touch (4th Gen) and it was a little sluggish on there, however my iTouch is heavily loaded with crap and is in need of a clearout.

This is pretty much why I moved to Chrome. Safari is very underdeveloped it seems with updates few and far between.

I do however have an annoying flash issue on chrome where if 2 or 3 flash items are running at once, you cant scroll. Some kind of annoying flash bug though from what I can tell. Flash has always been a sack of crap on the mac. I just run the flashblock extension now and that stops it happening.

It's a real shame Apple cripples third party browsers, but the UI is pretty nice.

At least, unlike Apple, Google were smart enough to put the private browsing control IN THE ACTUAL BLOODY APP AND NOT IN AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT APPLICATION.

Flash is a sac of crap....period. Lol.

So to sound uninformed, but we're these features not announced by apple to come out with their new iOS 6? This sounds almost as if google beat them to releasing their product. I'm not trying to start an Apple Vs Google battle here, just a question.

Well, incognito mode, syncing your tabs (a feature coming "soon" to Safari), you know, the stuff listed in the first post ? ;)

You are correct. Just depends on what you prefer to use. They essentially do the same thing.

My god what's with the glitchy scrolling and General unresponsivness when tabs are loading. I remember the good old days when all browsers were butter smooth, iPad1 no less. Fond memories.

Engadget had a similar issue and seemed to have solved it by rebooting.

Thank for the link, but that didn't work for me, I still get the same message in account settings.

However, I noticed that my bookmarks are infact synced on both my iPhone and iPad, but tabs aren't, and clicking the "Enable sync" button tells me that my sign in details are out of date and asks me to log in. Very strange!

Can anyone else confirm that their bookmarks are syncing, even though the app is telling them they're not logged in?

I was having the same problem. I went to my google dashboard (account settings) on my laptop and turned off syncing. It asks you to wait a few minutes then it says it's off. Then I turned it on again. Made sure 'sync tabs' was checked, reinstalled the chrome app and it started working. Hope this works for you. :)

This worked! Thanks :)

I don't' know if I'm being stupid and missing something obvious, but how do you see your history on the iphone version?

Thanks

I saw one review of the app saying that Chrome doesn't zoom in as far as safari does. I'm able to zoom in very far, just as far as I can in safari.

And as for the default browser issue, perks of a jailbreak I guess :)

Anyone found a way to use bookmarklets with Chrome? I had no issues using my lastpass bookmarklets in Safari. The lack of a bookmark menu/bar like safari seems to be the problem.

They're features from the desktop version of Chrome.
