Seriously. Just in time for me, and I’m sure many others, to switch to Firefox. Chromium Edge was nice but that’s a big no moving forward. Jan 2023, mark the date, people.

Chrome still trash. If you're on Mac, just use Orion Browser. So much better since it's essentially Safari but without Apple's crap, browser compatibility modes for sites designed for Chrome, and access to Firefox and Chrome plugins. And since it uses WebKit it has access to TouchID, Keychain, Apple accounts, and Apple Pay.
Interesting - never heard of Orion browser. But what is the 'Apple crap' you're referring to? Safari is pretty fast, lets me use my passwords across all my devices, etc.

My Chrome Memory and Energy Saver Mode is to use Safari. It's also a privacy saver! As a web developer I have to use all of them at some point during the day, but Safari is my main and IDK why more people don't use it. It's great! I consistently have 300+ tabs open during the day across like 12 windows in different spaces across three monitors because I'm clearly insane, but it handles it fine. Safari is the multitasking GOAT. Eventually it starts going kinda weird if I get up over 400-500 tabs or let it go for a week without a restart, but it's more stable than any other browser I've tried under such conditions.

It's not comparable. You need to be comparing Chromium browsers together. Edge is the better Chromium browser and it's my secondary browser after Safari.

Why would you not just leave these on all the time?
You might have a website that you rely on to give you a notification that can only be delivered if the website is active. Another thing could be websites that lose their place or log off your session if reloaded.

I use it under Edge and have no problems with any website so far

Glad, Google pushed this update out. Desperately needed. Google Chrome has been using too much RAM. Now, we need it for iOS devices too, please.
How would that be possible - afaik the Chrome browser on iOS jus ust a thin veneer over the Safari engine as per Apple's requirements. And Safari on iOS isn't slow or uses that many resources.

Don’t all the browsers on iOS just use the same engine as Safari, or has that changed? You just get the look and sync features of whatever brand of browser you’re actually using, so there are no fixes to apply there.

With Energy Saver mode, Chrome will automatically limit battery draining tasks when the battery hits 20 percent. Background activity will be limited, as will visual effects for websites with animations and videos.
So Chrome will still be a battery hog until it gobbles it down to 20%? Gee thanks.

from my 1 day of usage there seems to be a delay when switching between tabs, the page tend to stall out for 1-2 seconds before loading, not as instantaneous as having the mem saver off. either that or i'm doing something wrong lol.

I used to use Firefox, but I can’t stand their new tab UI, and they stopped letting you revert to the previous style many versions ago. I don’t like that much vertical space being consumed by tabs.

Google turned me off of a lot of things (Chrome included) with the sneaky was they tried to keep one logged in to their Google account across multiple apps.
