There's a lot more to YouTube Premium than just no ads, and I've experienced buggy behavior with ad-blockers on YouTube in the past before I had Premium. Easy decision for me. $12/month is nothing. Many people spend far more than that on frivolous things each month...just cut back slightly on those, and you break even 😉

+1 for youtube premium
they lured me in with the free trial and now i can't go back

Nice to hear Google is fixing one of the biggest complaints about Chrome. :) People here are hating on that browser, but I have my reasons to still use it, like the website language translator is imo best in class, also I like the UI better than Firefox.

Do you know the fully history of Chrome and Safari, and web browsers in general?

Yes. The history does not matter.

I speak merely of the present. Chromium has more than majority market share, and websites will be developed for and tested on Chromium before any other engine. That is why browsers running that engine will give you the best experience on modern websites.

People can hate all they want. Web devs prefer that people use Chromium-based browsers: easier to develop for and maintain, and less time spent trying to make them work on other browser engines.

Remember the hellscape days of trying to make your modern website work on that atrocity called IE 6,7,8? Google sought to end that, and thankfully, they succeeded. Even Edge is now built on Chromium.

One would have thought this would have been a priority for Google as it would have benefited Chrome Books and tablets long before the Apple Silicon Macs came around.

I don't care for the ability to download content, play stuff in the background, etc., but if you enjoy those features that's great. I don't spend that much time on YouTube and I'd rather be outside doing stuff or reading. To each their own.

I feel sorry for anyone who watches YouTube or any other channel for 18hrs straight…
If sitting and watching then yeah, I run YT Premium on my screens whenever I’m home, playlists of 4K HDR space, nature, reef fish, walking tours of cities, hiking in beautiful locations I’ll never visit. Also music videos and live cams from around the world etc. beats a blank wall for backgrounds

I was just informing you of the facts--that the price isn't simply for ad-free. I live a very active lifestyle, but I also enjoy watching various things on YouTube and DVDs a lot, and, as mentioned, I multi-task while doing so.

let the spinning wheel spin....to quote a song. the update is just sitting there with a spinning wheel. Typical chrome crap, that is why I don't use it

People crap on Chrome all the time and honestly, i'd like to try something new. I keep coming back to it. Why?

  • Safari - No multi profiles, odd way to group tabs (makes little sense). I like the way Chrome groups tab
  • Edge - close second. Tried it for a few weeks but it was too busy with the coupons and tons of unnecessary menu options.
  • Firefox - My IT staff wont support it
  • Brave - MY IT staff has banned it.
MY two cents.

huh? who actually has ISPs with usage limits? Sounds like a bad plan to sign up for to me.
Cox cable has got to cox people. They are the only provider in our area. We get a letter about hitting our max about 5 days at the end of the billing cycle about us coming close to our usage amount. If we keep going another certain gig, then they will charge us extra. It stupid. I'm already paying for their giga whatever service.

Thankfully my ISP doesn't do that. They oughtn't either for the price I'm paying!
Yup. It's dumb. I'm paying quite a bit for their max package and they want to juice me if I go over my limit. They are the only one available. Grr.

Weird they banned Brave. I'm betting it prevents or at least causes them issues tracking your visited sites.
