You see this Google? it's the world's smallest violin playing just for you.

Gosh, you could have put a little more thought into that response, instead of recycling out a tired old (and ever rubbish) template 'joke'.

PS: When you say 'see this?', it usually follows that your provide something visual for them to see, see?

It is often said that sarcasm is the lowest form of humour; I think it's actually copy & paste.

Perhaps Google didn't realize its silly 1984-esque "A Future We Do Not Want" propaganda attack on Apple/iOS would result in some serious counterpunches.

Man up, Google.

...Patents were meant to encourage innovation...

Riiiight. LOL.

Then I guess Apple didn't have much say, this is my brand new HTC ChaCha (disclaimer, this is a post tainted with sarcasm, I don't actually own that phone, I still have my trusty 3GS) :

rofl.... hillarious. loved the post.

We deserve competition where companies actually compete against each other and be innovative.

That is why the companies are working hard to push Google out.

Google innovates search.... let them focus on that. Copying and "giving away" other people's work is not good for innovation or competition.

This is sad. It's as if Google is trying to say they are saving the world! Nothing is free in the tech world, it's just filled or soon to be filled with ads. Google hasn't become rich just by being nice! If companies are competing against each other for patents so be it. Google don't mention the fact that Apple loose as well.

I don't think "innovation" means what you think it means.

Why would one spend time and money to "innovate" something if they knew a competitor could simply copy the idea for free? One wouldn't.

Hence the need for patents.

Where the patent system needs serious reform is for those entities whose sole product is patents. If you don't act on your patent to produce a marketable item or service within a reasonable amount of time, that patent should go to the public domain.

Many Fandroids actually believe this nonsense.

That's a whole other debate that I don't think we want or need to get into here. And who are you to decide what Google should and shouldn't focus on anyway?

I know...I think Google thinks they're a superhero here to restore peace and harmony to mankind or something. Gimme a break. As if they wouldn't do the same if they owned these patents and people were willfully infringing on them...

Your post was complete gold and offered so much to the conversation! Notice that my post was from my phone, I apologize for the lack of embedded images, video and other forms of media for the illustration.

Oh Vic Gundotra, you are going down baby!

Again, Google saying it is being "forced" to buy patents and use them in lawsuits. Yet it tries to fool people on saying that Apple is charging money for patents when only Microsoft has done this.

"Don't be evil" era is over, the new Google has arrived, beware! ;)

haha uh oh google's feeling the pressure. they dont like not being on top with no competition like in online advertising

I agree with your idea of patent reform. That is sorely needed.

However, the notion that patents lend to innovation is mostly fallacious. In a modern society, patents technically stifle innovation. Much of today's innovation is in very small increments. But those small increments often infringe upon some patent's scope. So perhaps in conjunction with patent reform to prevent patent trolls, perhaps enforcing far more narrowly defined patents.

In any event, not to get too deep into it, suffice it to say that the truer axiom concerning innovation would be "necessity is the mother of invention."

When all major mobile OS players (i.e. Microsoft, Apple and RIM) create a consortium to outbid Google for Nortel patents (who BTW was the first to express an interest in them) this clearly smacks of anti-trust issue. So, it's not surprising that DOJ is investigating the matter. It's been reported that DOJ wanted to impose a ban on the use of those patents for litigation purposes. In this case, this would mean that the winners just wasted upward of $4 billion dollars (for it does not look like they really needed those patents for anything but the litigation). All Google needs to do is to intentionally violate one of those patents. Will Microsoft, Apple and RIM sue Google? Will they have any chance to avoid anti-trust penalties? Highly unlikely. It just smells bad.

it's hard to hear a multi-billion company cry about unfairly being picked on...the whole patent system in this country is ficked. i'd be happy with an overhaul of patents and copyrights...if it takes google, microsoft, and apple beating each other up to get this accomplished, so be it.

Let's assume for a minute that you're a professional artist. You create a very nice painting. I take a picture of it and start selling postcards with your painting on the back.

Would you show me some "consideration" and not sue me?

Comparing these two is completely ridiculous.

The best part about this evil group looking to take Google down (lol), is they represent a large enough variety of companies and customers to make any sort of anti-trust or anti-competitive action to be a non starter.
Microsoft, Apple, RIM. Who else is in the mobile OS business? Just Google?

Rubbish, it is perfectly acurate, and Harman Kardon soundsticks added a lot of base to it when you use the text to speech thingy.
Yeah, perfectly accurate. Just disregard the fact that mp3 players were not only around long before the iPod, but becoming popular before the ipod. I'm sure that instead of switching from a creative to an ipod (because of a better interface), I would've just gone back to a CD Player.
Mouse buttons, my point exactly: logitech comes up with a 12 button mouse and 2 scroll wheels, apple comes up with a gesture / multitouch mouse with one clickable surface. The difference between innovation and just adding whatever worked before but more of it.
Aside from the better ergonomics of logitech mice (notably the mx518 and similar form factors), those 12 buttons are actually very useful, especially when you can bind them all to do different things that you commonly need to do. When I use a mouse without back and forward buttons for navigating web pages, I get really annoyed. Hell, I used a mouse with only a back button (G5?) and discovered how much I used the forward button.
Got a bunch of nice wireless lasermice from Logitech, wanna buy them?
I don't use wireless mice.

Because Google is so honest, with it's snooping open wifi and copying ever book in creation. There were going to hold our library captive. Let's not forget Google's Double Irish/Dutch way of making sure they avoid US taxes. Sure Apple has issues too, but don't pretend Google does anything fair either.

Instead of a Hostile Campaign Against Google, it's clearly a campaign against Apple. The likes of your post shows the mindless hate and fictional perception of the industry. Why people who hate Apple come in here to grief other is beyond. That's clearly some sort of campaign, and it's all hostile.

My post never even mentioned google. Also, did you not see my sentence saying I own all macs? (7 to be exact, none with windows installed)
