you said Google didn't join because they didn't want to end up being caught in litigation with one of their OEMs, I said are you saying Google wouldn't sue one of their OEMs...you rambled. Plain and simple. Exactly how was that not what we were discussing?

See my earlier post (#680). I added some cliff notes for you. End sub-thread in my case.

haha, ok...and that makes it better somehow? You were wrong. I didn't realize we were having a competition and the fact that I'm not the one that called you out on that somehow invalidates how foolish you are.

whoever said anything about a competition? you bought into a statement that was found incorrect, and went along with it. You're clearly just as 'misinformed' as I am then.

a lot of your posts are coming off as aggressively egotistical, yet you had no idea how Amazon App Store development process worked neither. You're in the same boat bud.

I know far more about it then you and that's been proven countless times. You unequivocally stated it's official, it's endorsed by Google, and that Google gets a cut of it. I stated from the beginning that you're wrong. Now you're going to harp on the fact that I wasn't the first to call you out on Google no getting a cut? Seriously? You're sad man. And you're like every fandroid out there, who just refuses to admit when they're wrong. Like the poster above said (oh wait should I say this, maybe you'll say I'm "buying into what he said"), I'm in awe at how hard your trying. It's pathetic. I mean you're being proven wrong left and right, over and over again, by multiple people and you're still here arguing your incorrect points. It's baffling how someone can try so hard to push a failed point. Just admit you were wrong on multiple counts and move on.

You still haven't commented on the "heck yeah they endorse the crappy apps" thing. You can't say "I didn't say that" can you? You can't say "that wasn't my point" can you? It's as plain as day. I asked you are those apps endorsed, and you said (with quite some conviction, I might add) "heck yeah!"....so will you be backtracking on that too?

Move on, man. Vote down this post, so you feel better about yourself and move on. You look foolish.

Again, putting words in my mouth. You write a lot of balogney. I disproved a lot of the statements you made earlier, but you're going to ignore my comments. Keep at it.

Btw, i stand by that comment that crappy apps are supported on Android Marketplace. You keep bringing up 'endorsing' when I only mentioned that word in reference to cydia not being endorsed by apple as it requires jailbreaking for it to work. But yeah, you're gonna ignore this anyhow.

You must feel really insecure of yourself to say something like 'I know far more about it then you...'

You're no Android Pro, and you're no iOS pro. You can alpha-male it up all you want by trying to 'correct' unsubstantiated claims, putting words in my mouth, it goes nowhere.

The only time i was corrected, were by folks that are NOT you. I gained nothing from the discussions I've had from you, as I truly do want to gain knowledge about the smartphone industry.

All those crappy apps? Heck yeah they're endorsed by Google. Its on Android Marketplace. Its not violating any ToS.

The fact that Google is allowing their applications to be put on a 3rd party entity like Amazon, some kind of agreement was made. I'd consider that as an endorsement. Google is not big on PR/advertisement campaigns. They don't do that with a lot of their products. How often do you see a Google commercial straight from Google themselves? Rarely. Thats not their priority.

Yes. There was some confusion on my part as I assumed you were implying that they cannot ban 'unknown sources' applications WITHIN Android Marketplace.

As for the Amazon/Android marketplace issue, you'd have to be on crack to think that Amazon surreptitiously is allowing users to buy Android apps on their own service, and have Google sit idly by without doing anything about it.

I don't know if you think your posts disappear after you write them or something, or you really truly believe that you didn't say what you said. It's as clear as day. You're wrong...admit it and move on. You clearly said yes the crappy apps are endorsed by google (your words, not mine), and a couple of posts later you're denying it...you're sad....admit it and move on.

Please, both of you. Just stop. I'm tired of seeing your quibbles pop up in my inbox.

i love macrumors forums. Healthy discussion. As long as it remains healthy. I'll stop. It is definitely getting annoying.

Every single one of your posts contains personal insults. How is that healthy? Because you aren't threatening eachother with physical violence?

LOL - there are some here who fall into the category of "Hostile, Organized Campaign Against Android" indeed! ;)

wow. you're still at it? how many times must you instigate with folks on this thread? keep it up, it might get you banned.

Lol...ok...i had a feeling it would be tough for you to spin that one. We're done now, I hope?

theres no spinning. theres no competition, theres no 'i'm better than you.'

your 1st grade mentality goes nowhere with me.

I've been done, yet you continue to instigate arguments with various folks on this thread.

I'll have you get the last word, since this will never end without you getting the last word in. For that, I grant you your wish :p

If either of voonyx or aohus who comments below this line, I propose they get banned forever. There is no purpose to either of you commenting anymore. Just stop. You continue to make further fools of yourselves by trying to get the last word in.

ok?..if I get banned not really much I can do about it...so back on topic

Nothing about this is accurate. This is not a jab against Apple by any means, but:

Android is based on Linux, which didn't even exist until the 1990s (70's era OS?). The history of the OS is similar to that of Mac OS X (deriving from Unix) and it's just as modern. The hardware is also just as modern as the iPhone, in some cases using the exact same parts and on occasion higher performing parts (00's era hardware?). For example the iPhone CPU is simply an ARM Cortex A8, probably the most common CPU design used in smartphones today. The GPU is from PowerVR SGX 535 which is featured on dozens of other phones, including Android phones. This is not a bad thing -- the point is just that there is nothing really unique about the iPhone's hardware other than its overall design.

80% of the Linux core is from the 70's era Unix System III, the first version written in C. I stand by what I say. Time to grep your Berkeley archives my friend.

First of all, cite the 80% figure (because it's totally made up).

Secondly, Unix was written in C practically from the start. Afterall, it was invented by the same guys programming Unix.

Next answer why your statement implies that Linux is inferior to Mac OS X's darwin kernel, which derives from BSD Unix and was also developed in the 70's. Having historical roots does not make either system more or less modern. Features like virtual memory, pre-emptive schedulers, high performance, and modularity make an operating system modern. Give real reasons.

Google kicked up a dust storm this week, publicly whining about Microsoft, Apple, and others ganging up against it to pursue patent violations by its Android mobile operating system.
It's hard to be too sympathetic to Google. While there are few who don't believe that patent reform is desperately needed, Google is a giant company with deep pockets that has tried to play the same patent acquisition game as the companies it criticized. It just hasn't played the game as well.

Nope, Unix System I and Unix System II were both written in DEC PDP-8 assembly. None of it was written in C 'til Unix System III and that was a mix of C and PDP-8 assembly.
