9 in 10 US teens use iPhone and may continue using Apple devices for the rest of their lives. I'm sure Google would love it if Apple removed their biggest selling point and differentiator, iMessage.
I'm not sure why, as a user, I would ever celebrate people being locked into a hardware ecosystem just so they can send more than the most basic of messages to their friends.
As an Apple user I would love it if I didn't have to use apps like WhatsApp to send audio messages, pictures and videos to my friends and family. I've used iPhones since they came out and have no intention of abandoning the platform and I would really appreciate it if Apple aimed to improve my experience.
The iPhone is a great platform and I think it's really sad that "you're gonna ruin the group chat experience with that green bubble, nothing's going to work well and everyone will hate you for it" is a USP that people actually applaud.
I genuinely hope that the new EU rules are going to change that.
