I hate snide-y remarks like those Google reps made. It’s petty and suggests an inferiority complex if they’re always comparing themselves to others.

Has Android finally got a decent kiosk mode like iOS has had for something like 10 years? I wouldn’t care to find out anyway, as the last Google phone I had, (the Nexus 5 IIRC) was dumped by Google just a year after release. Compared to Apple who keep products supported for usually 5 years at a minimum it was a real eye opener.

rcs is most common? I’ve never heard an android user talk about it or say anything has changed. Pretty sure they’re still using sms

I love it! Google compliments Apple on copying features from software and hardware Google invented. Yes, that’s right they invented features for Pixel and Android that were original. As in they added features that they didn’t copy from elsewhere. So Kudos, Google!! You’re right to celebrate.

But being polite is different from being honest. Without Apple’s iPhone 1 with the core features that lead to both Android hardware and software after the iPhone launch, you think a Pixel exists close to its current form — if at all?

Things that are derivative of copied work are always derivatives of the original, but really bold move by Google depending on short term memory…

This is hilarious considering all the things Google copies from Apple and Samsung. Good job Google. Can't wait until you abandon the Pixel line like you do everything else.

Competition is good. Remember when iPhone didn’t have copy paste?

I use both platforms and both have nice features that I wish they would copy from one another but that’s mostly due to habits like I find it cumbersome to get an adblocker working on my Samsung while it’s super easy and straight forward on iOS. iOS does not offer enough customization of features they do have. Like I would love to be able to share my actual focus status
True. But stealing is bad.

It's a completely toxic idea that people are affected by the colour of their message blobs. Just think about humanity's direction.
Tell that to 12 year old me who got bullied for no name sneakers. This was long before cell phones were a thing, let alone smart phones. Point is, this is not humanity’s new direction, just another mile marker.

And yet in the very same conference they announced a 2x zoom for the 50 MP camera just like iphone 14 pro, they announce their version of faceid that apple introduced in 2017 and their version of cinematic video recording just like apple did with iphone 13...

I mean... ok...

I just want to know why they had to take jabs at Apple. Like this isn’t a political event - this is your flagship product. Don’t tell me “you already has it” - just show me your better. Let your sales and your user feedback drive the market.

If you have a legit good product, the market will move. If you don’t - it won’t.

I am always wary of companies talking down their competitors.

It's almost as if they have to take a 'pop' at their competitors to make their own product sound better. Feels they are trying to justify themselves.

Competition is good to push boundaries of innovation, talking about competitors is not so good..

Exactly. The successful one can pretend the others don’t exist. The ones who feel insecure are the ones making comparisons. In this case, laughable ones.

Apple released always on, on a watch that trickled down to the phone.

Google released a watch that looks like a round Apple Watch. Go figure.

9 in 10 US teens use iPhone and may continue using Apple devices for the rest of their lives. I'm sure Google would love it if Apple removed their biggest selling point and differentiator, iMessage.
Teens aren’t chatting in iMessage they use Snapchat way more

Trying so hard to be relevant. Poor Google. Maybe one day people will buy your phones and you can make thousands and thousands of dollars.

I might be blind or stupid, but my position is really simple: Other manufacturers make great phone hardware, often better than Apple's in terms on cameras, etc, and arguably design. But nobody but Apple controls the chip manufacturing, and nobody but Apple controls the OS the phone's on. iPhone OS is better than Android - so people say. So whatever the hardware it's never even a temptation. Or is that simplifying matters too much?

The argument that knockoff iPhones have better design is hilarious. They are all based off iPhone from 2007.

I would laugh if I made a rectangular touch screen and some idiot claimed it was designed better than Apples. Comedy.
