Hopefully this comes to pass. Moto 360 for me.

Wear watches are built on Google's platform but are available from a number of Apple's competitors, including Samsung and LG. Popular smartwatches like the LG G, the Moto 360, and Samsung's Gear lineup are all Android Wear devices.

They used the term popular smartwatches and Gear is the same sentence. How funny, everything I've read says they are a flop.

Do you still not see how silly this is? Hypothetically, Android phone users will have 15 choices of smartwatches. Apple users will have 16 choices. What's the big deal? Apple is winning! Uh, yay?

Android users get to pick Android watches, Apple users can pick Android watches or Apple watches. Almost forgot to toss Pebble in the loop.

Why would anyone buy an android wear watch if you can buy the better apple watch? All the negatives with the Apple watch are amplified with the current android watches.

Personally I'd want the iWatch ui on a moto 360.

Go to a store and check out the quality of the materials used, you might be surprised. I honestly thought it looked really good as well, until I got a closeup look at it.

Choices, preferences, and opinions: How do they work?

Along the same lines, why would anyone buy a Honda or a Toyota if you can buy a Mercedes or BMW?

Apple doesn't tend to like competition all that much, and anything that takes attention away from Apple Watches will surely be viewed with disdain.

Ok... i'll bite. How is it that Apple likes competition less than any other company likes competition?

The question is, will it let you interact with and dismiss notifications? If not, it's just a Pebble with a better screen.

I would so buy a Moto 360 with metal band if it supported iOS.

Would love to be able to use a Moto 360 with my iPhone! I just can't seem to get on board with the design of the apple watch.

If Motorola had sold just one 360 for every 10 persons who said they are going to buy a 360 because it looks "spectacular", they would have sold a billion 360s by now...

I have to say that is one nice looking watch. I like the Apple Watch as well, but really am a "one color" fan and can't afford an all stainless Apple Watch just now.

Just curious about opinions - are you liking the silver or space black all stainless steel? Too bad about the $100 markup for liking space black more.

Apple has, historically, prevented direct competition from releasing an app of their own into their ecosystem. Look at all the problems Google went through trying to get Google Voice onto iOS in the past. And Google isn't the only company who had to battle Apple to get their apps accepted.

Apple eventually gives in, but still gives competing developers a hard time with app acceptance at first. Usually until negative press pressures them into conceding.

I agree. iPhones have more choice.

It's because Wear is open. Yes.

iPhone users have more choice:
because other software vendors and manufacturers platforms are more open.

Android/BB10 users have less choice:
Why? Because Apple, the other remaining player, refuses to open their API's and software to those others.

context changes everything.

you seem to like ignoring that just to make a bold claim that is incorrect.

don't try passing this off like Apple is some superior entity here. their business model is overal more restrictive. And come the next iteration of iOS, they could easily just lock out Android Wear connectivity that they're working on now. They have done this behaviour in the past under the guise "we have services that do that so we don't allow that app:"

My brother has the Moto 360 and it looks HUGE on his normal size wrist. You better think twice if you think it looks good. Just because it's round doesn't mean it's better designed. Size does matter.

You seem to be an Apple hater with all your negative postings. They must make really good products if you still buy their products even if you hate them.

Not really. Android Wear is open. You may use any phone you want with it. :apple:Watch is closed - you can't use it with any phone other than an iPhone.

It's not that iPhone users have choice because the iPhone is closed, but Android Wear users have choice because Android Wear is open.

You've got it backwards.

Android (phone) users can only use Android Wear(ables). iPhone users can use :apple:Watch AND Android Wear(ables). So iPhone users have more options, not less.

Just curious..how many Android Wear devices have you actually used? And now how many Apple watches have you used?

So when your brother walks into the room, do you see his watch first?

:D:D:D

Apple does this not because they "hate competition". They do it because they want to control the user experience. They want to provide what they think is the best overall experience to users. You may disagree with their choices. But you can't just chalk it up to hating competition. This is a pretty common thing in most technological industries.

Edit: A good example is Google Maps. Clearly apple didn't have a problem with a competitor providing their mapping solution. It wasn't until they got really fed up with Google refusing to add turn-by-turn navigation to the iOS app, as they had on their Android version, that they decided to create their own app. They did that because they felt that not having turn by turn lessened the user experience. I agree with that decision.

Same question I asked bbeagle, how is the relevant?

Ok... i'll bite. How is it that Apple likes competition less than any other company likes competition?

What exactly are you biting? Nowhere in that quote from spectrumfox was there an implication that Apple likes competition less than any other company.
I read this: "Apple doesn't tend to like competition all that much..."

Did you read something like this instead: "More than any other company, Apple hates competition. Other companies are okay with competition, but not Apple."

/confused;)

I've used moto 360 and pebble. Obviously i haven't used Apple Watch, but neither have anyone else here claiming they like the android wear better. In fact, most of them probably haven't even used any smart watch.
