Towards the end of last year, Google unveiled a new Calendar app for Android users. The Calendar was able to pull events from Gmail, suggest titles, people, and places to add to events based on past usage, and it had a Schedule View that offered photos and maps of calendar destinations.

At the time, Google promised to bring the app to iOS, and as of today, Google is debuting Google Calendar for the iPhone. The iOS app has all of the same features that were first available in the Android version of the app, including a clean design, the aforementioned Schedule View, and the ability to pull in events from Gmail. Google Calendar is compatible with all iPhone calendars, including Exchange and iCloud.

Get the official Google Calendar app for your iPhone to save time and make the most of every day.
- A new Schedule View - See your schedule at a glance with photos and maps of the places you're going.
- Events from Gmail - Flight, hotel, concert, restaurant reservations and more are added to your calendar automatically.
- Assists to fill in your calendar - You can quickly create events with smart suggestions for event titles, places and people.
- Different ways to view your calendar - Speedily switch between viewing a single day to getting an overview of multiple days at once
- All your calendars in one, easy place - Google Calendar works with all calendars on your phone, including Exchange and iCloud.
Google Calendar can be downloaded from the App Store for free. [Direct Link]

I've been waiting for this since it launched on Android. The Apple calendar app is now tucked away in a folder. It's just a gorgeous, fun calendar app to use.

Sigh nobody needs another calendar app. Apple has already nailed this down and has the best integration solution for all iOS and OS X users.

I prefer a good week view without tilting my phone sideways. Hopefully the google calendar app can do this.

That's why quite a few third party calendar apps are fairly popular...sigh indeed.

I am going to check this out. I hate Apple's calendar app (was better in iOS6). I used CalenMob (free) because of the multi color dots (for different calendars), but they have been updating the app so it is more and more like apple calendar (not good).

So yeah. I think there is room for another calendar app.

I wish this integrated better with my Google Apps account. Is there any app that will allow me to book rooms in my Google Calendar or allow me to see the availability of different people in my office?

Seems like the app doesn't offer a widget (at least not so far). That's too bad.

When is Google/Apple gonna fix the glitch where you can't see shared calendars from Google on the iPhone calendar app?

I can see shared calendars through calendar on my Mac from my google account yet not on my iPhone.

Solid first release, however missing some key features that the competition already has, namely:

  • Default alert durations
  • Notification Center widget
  • Natural Language Input

I'd also like to see it incorporate some more of the Google services to compete with an app like Tempo, where you can dial into conference calls with one-tap, see a history of emails/attachments relevant to the event and links to other services (i.e. to wish someone Happy Birthday on Facebook from within the app).

Calendars 5's unique week view is the best. Anyone looking for a calendar app should check out that app. I love Google's stuff, but after searching for a long time, have found my perfect calendar app.

nope... starting with full day events not appearing on the notification center.

also why do all the Google Apps look better than those default ones. they r nailing it in the flat department imo. some even look better than their android counterparts lol

I will respectfully disagree with you. Apple's native app leaves much to be desired. It's a bit unintuitive and aesthetically dry.

:)

But to each their own.

In regard to the Google app, wish there was a 7 day/month (with dots) landscape mode.

Exactly why I'm downloading the Google app. This is insanely annoying.

I disagree. I work for an organization that uses Google calendar and Apple's integration with it is not ideal and not intuitive. .

I love having Google's software on iPhone since I prefer iOS over Android. Apple should be taking notes on Material Design.

Ya but this sucks cause I've been using iCloud for my calendar needs so now I have to use two apps, one for my calendars and one for those shared through Google. So annoying.
