Does notifications work to let you know when to leave for your appointment? And does your appointments appear on your Google now cards?

Sigh nobody needs another calendar app. Apple has already nailed this down and has the best integration solution for all iOS and OS X users.
Google's app works a lot better, particularly when you use location (map) information with the events in your calendar.

Appointments have always appeared on your Google Now cards, same thing for notifications (if you allow the Google Search (Now?) app in the Notifications Center)

Calendars 5's unique week view is the best. Anyone looking for a calendar app should check out that app. I love Google's stuff, but after searching for a long time, have found my perfect calendar app.

"Week Calendar" is also a good Calendar that's similar. It has more customizable options and font choices. I've actually replaced Calendars 5 with Week Cal!

I use Apple's calendar as my main calendar, but use google's calendar on my desktop because it lets me do irregular repeating events and other non normal things. Then it syncs with the app on my iPhone and all is well.
I'll just keep using both. I don't need another calendar app on my phone.

I've been trying to download on my iPhone to no avail. Just a spinning icon. Went to the Mac to try and the store pop-up announced that iTunes store is temporary unavailable.

FantastiCal to the end, baby!

Google's Calendar looks good, but it lacks the functionality that the gold standard of iOS calendars FantastiCal does.

The FantastiCal widget is an absolute must have. An fully interactive month view on my notification screen? YES SIR!

Can you copy & paste events with this one?
I will be eternally amazed why you can't do this with apples calendar. I would understand if copy paste was missing in iOS 1 & 2, but in iOS 8...

I love the design of this app. It's awesome how Google puts in graphics automatically for different events on your calendar. The day of my recent trip to Florida had an actual photograph of the city at sunset. My trip back to Toronto had a picture of the Toronto skyline. My upcoming dentist appointment has a graphic of a toothbrush. A dinner I just attended had a graphic of a place setting at a dinner table. It's these little details that I appreciate.

The only problem is the app icon. I replaced the stock app in my dock with it, but I had to switch it back. I look at my dock to see the current date, but the Google Calendar App just stays at "31" all the time. That's the one thing the Apple app has over it, the icon is dynamic depending on the day.

I still use the Google calendar over the Apple calendar, but I have to leave the Apple calendar in my dock for now.

Apple's calendar actually supports irregular events by using Siri. There's just not UI interface for it. Use Siri to set it up.

I do the same. Also Apple Calendar allows me to keep my work exchange calendar in it as well. I dont want to add my work calendar to Google calender.

Do you have an example showing that?

knemonic - The difference with this, at least for me, is if you're using Exchange or not through Google. I used to be on Exchange and the shared calendars don't show up. But on a standard Google account, they become part of the iOS Calendar app. Exchange support was grandfathered in for people who were using it, but is no longer an option for new users.

Hope this helps.

Nope, I am not setup through exchange, signed in directly through my gmail account and I cannot see calendars shared with me through Google in iOS yet they show up on my macs. This has been a known problem since ios 8 came out and there are many threads here and on apple about it.

I installed this app. Is it's main purpose to show Google calendar on the iPhone?

It appears that I am unable to get it to display my Apple calendar on the iPhone.

The new Google Calendar app supports iCloud along with Google Calendar.

And the Apple's calendar supports Google.

I've been waiting for this since it launched on Android. The Apple calendar app is now tucked away in a folder. It's just a gorgeous, fun calendar app to use.

I like it a lot, I like how in the "list" view it shows the start AND end time.
BUT I don't understand how/why the locations aren't clickable to get a map.

Some people don't use osx, some use both osx and windows, some use android too.
Google calendar is the best cal app for those people.
Apple calendar is a joke lately. It was decent years ago.

I think I'm understanding this. It's really meant for Google calendar users who want to access those calendars on the iphone.

I thought I'd be seeing my iPhone calendar data show up in Google Calendar app and be able to use Google Calendar's features.

You can have your iCloud and other calendars that you have set up on the phone show up in the Goigle Calendar app too.

disappointed that it dosent handle attachments.

there dosent seem to be a refresh button.

Glad to see this. I'm increasingly finding Apple hardware and Google software to be an almost ideal combination.
