It won’t sell well with this approach, unless people will get blind (which could happen since new Pixels, Galaxys and iPhones has same poor PWM OLED, and that’s a perfect way to kill vision!). Remember iPhone 2G? It was a brick in terms of featureset, camera (2MP no autofocus, it was pretty bad one. Contenders already had 5MP and 8MP ones with autofocusing). But it sold because it looked different, beautiful and outstanding.

People will always want to have a device that supports their style, not breaks it.

Hopefully in case it flops they can cover costs, it is Google after all, they are selling data

when are they goimg to realise the market does not want AI.

Add myself to photos I’m not in? Oh per-lease, have a day off!
Me too I think I would never use a feature like that.
I would not go as far as to say that market does not want AI, I think that after all this hype for AI we are yet to see many real useful applications of it.

I have started to see a glimpse of them from Google, we are getting close to Assistants we can delegate tasks too, but I think the fulfilment of this dream is still 5 years out.

You've listed a bunch of features that existed on Android phones in one form or another and you claim Google who is the creator of Android and Pioneer of AI innovations as following Apple. The Pixel 7 Pro has an optical 5x telephoto lens ffs. This is what happens when you live in an echo chamber and don't see other manufacturers who are pioneering innovations. Genmoji, Image Playground & SLM AI model architectures Apple is using were invented by the likes of Google.

Apple Intelligence Vs what is actually currently available on Android phones. You can clearly see how more advanced what Google and Android manufactures are doing with AI on device models.

What is even funnier but also sad is Pixel 7 Pro can run AI models while iPhone 14 Pro Max which is more powerful cannot.
Correct, Google has always been leading here, if there is someone who has been copying is Apple TBH, let's be honest, Apple has been super late to the game and the fact they did not add enough RAM to their devices so far, to earn a few bucks more per device, is now coming back to hunt them. Having an Iphone 15 (non PRO) that is last year model cannot do AI is ridiculous, I would be mad if I had purchased a non PRO model last year (luckily I did buy a 15 PRO)

Google/Samsung etc etc devices have appalling residual value, I bought a Z flip5 for £1049…..now worth £296. Yes it’s dumb buying lots of tech but it’s one of the things I enjoy so there’s that but I’m not willing to wear that kind of depreciation so will only be buying Apple from now on. iPhone 15 pro cost new £1099……still worth £705.

I think I'm officially old. None of the AI features made any sense. Whay would I want to do anything of what they showcased? Never happened, never will.

A year from now and you'll feel different. Apple's brilliance is making technology invisible. Eventually, talking naturally to your devices will just be ... natural.

same with all android devices. likely due to the amount of different devices there is where there is only one iOS and iPhone

I agree, it is impressive that the technology CAN do this, and I can see valid commercial use cases, but why a normal person would want to completely falsify their own personal images for anything more than fun is odd to me. But to each their own.
When people are obsessed with their self-image - they want to look their best for the socials no matter how fake the image is.

True, in my cases, my Note 20 Ultra 5G god sold for $345 after nearly 42-46 months. While my OnePlus 8 Pro which was bought in similar time and when I offered it in the resale portals, I was getting offers for $430 for a phone which was almost 50% of the Note 20 Ultra price. Samsung always dud when you try to resell. I could sell my iPhone 12 Pro Max 512 GB (almost like new)after little less than 3 years for $500 this January.

Android is once again becoming the choice for us Europeans. My father’s old Samsung S21 got the new update and he can now talk to Gemini in our native language, which Siri will probably never, ever support because the language isn’t even available as a screen language for the UI, let alone Siri. He was blown away at how he can ask Gemini stuff. I replaced the S21 he’s using now with an iPhone 15 and passed it down to him, now that Samsung feels a lot more modern than the phone I upgraded to 🥴 Worst part - the iPhone 15 won’t even support Apple Intelligence so it will remain just as dumb. It’s definitely something to think about when discussing Apple’s OS support vs Android device makers!

I highly doubt it. I fell no need to replace things in my pictures (why would I then take them?) and I do not need "AI" to write stuff for me and finally: I feel no need for help to cook.

You do realize that only enthusiasts care about refresh rates.

You stick an iPhone 15 in front of someone they are not going to care about that.

A pixel 4 runs lagdroid so by default it’s trash already to me and the hardware is hideous.

OMG! Only hard core techn fans care about refresh rate, so let's not add 120Ghz on our iPhone! It seems Apple didn't get that memo on Pro phone or iPad...

iPhone 15 without high refresh rate is someone already inferior than old Pixel 4...

And if you have attitude like "it's Android and it must lag" then be my guest. I will continue using my Pixel asu daily driver

Never said that. I simply said in a base model iPhone it’s largely irrelevant.

I notice very little difference personally with my 11 from five years ago vs my iPhone 15 pm.

And android does lag lol. Hence why I stopped using it after 12 years.

But if you love your pixel I’m happy and love that for you. I could never use another android as a daily driver. I’d go back to a flip phone first.

The sad thing is, Android continues to get much hate here, but if iOS or the iPhone had many of the features Android has had for a while, it would be celebrated. It's ok to acknowledge Apple has fallen behind with iPhone and iOS. This is not dissimilar to what happened to the Mac from 2016-2020. There is zero reason why Apple's AI is so far behind, why Siri still isn't where Google Assistant is, why iOS can't support split screen multitasking, magic eraser feature, etc. Apple's big selling point this year is likely to be negligibly larger displays, capture button, AI, and iOS 18 updates. Those aren't exciting selling points.

I know you and I have recently had some back and forth, but I want you to know that I respect everyone here and I do prefer to keep things positive. I agree that more enthusiasts care about refresh rate than the average Joe, but I believe everyone with eyes should care about refresh rate. I think more people are coming around to the importance of it. Slowly but surely.

You don’t notice difference doesn’t mean someone else won’t. It also doesn’t mean Apple shouldn’t add high refresh rate on baseline iPhone.

Heck even some super cheap Android phone offers 90Hz display.

So does iOS lag. What is your point? I haven’t seen noticeable lags or application crashes on Pixel phone for very long time.
