Oh, but they came up with the idea of... being able to add fake wildflowers to a photo of an open field.
Genius.
You've listed a bunch of features that existed on Android phones in one form or another and you claim Google who is the creator of Android and Pioneer of AI innovations as following Apple. The Pixel 7 Pro has an optical 5x telephoto lens ffs. This is what happens when you live in an echo chamber and don't see other manufacturers who are pioneering innovations. Genmoji, Image Playground & SLM AI model architectures Apple is using were invented by the likes of Google.

Apple Intelligence Vs what is actually currently available on Android phones. You can clearly see how more advanced what Google and Android manufactures are doing with AI on device models.

What is even funnier but also sad is Pixel 7 Pro can run AI models while iPhone 14 Pro Max which is more powerful cannot.

You should really give Android a try. I used to HATE Android. However, Android OS is leaps and bounds better than it was even 4 years ago and I actually prefer Android over iOS now. iOS on the other hand, has been going downhill over the past 5 years. For reference, I owned every iPhone from the 4 to the 12PM.
Good for you, but Google isn’t allowed in my house and certainly will never be on my phone.

Doesn't Apple use magical RAM which isn't beholden to the same technical principals as other RAM? /s

Yes it does. Apple’s hardware components are not subject to the same laws of physics that apply to other hardware made by mere mortals….

Given the price of Google's Fold, if Apple does release their own version it will probably cost as much as a Vision Pro.

Why? Pixel 9 Pro and Pro XL prices are pretty similar (sometimes identical) to iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max prices e.g., 128GB Pixel 9 Pro is $999 and 128GB iPhone 15 Pro is $999, 256GB Pixel Pro 9 XL is $1,199 and 256GB iPhone 15 Pro Max is $1,199. If these prices are similar, why wouldn't an iPhone fold phone be priced similarly to the Pixel 9 Pro Fold?

We're entering a new era of falsification and alternative realities…

In this example, what was the reality? The actual situation or the faked version AI augmented with an unrealistic sunset and even extra rocks in the sea?
Do these people convince themselves that that was the actual memory?

Pathetic.

I hope one day people will look back at this and ask themselves, "What were we thinking?"

PS.
And no, before the apologists chime in, this is not the same as previous Photoshop alterations.

This is off the scale fakery.

Those new gen people never grew up with film or without a phone. They don't know how reality can be beautiful. In the age of fake filters and IG/TT its just normal that they want to live a fake life and impress all their fake friends online.

100% agree with this. On the one hand the technology to do this is amazing but on the other hand, it’s completely fake. If you are taking photos for memories then they need to be 100% real. The issue is the people taking photos for social media that want to make their lives look better and the world they live in look better than it really is.

Mankind is completely going off the rails in the direction we are taking.

I guess it takes a lot of RAM to generate wildly inaccurate images of the American Founding Fathers haha

8GB is enough for the average consumer. It’s an appliance for most people. Come on!
Funny you mention this - I was building a new NAS recently and bought 16GB of RAM because it worked out cheaper and more conveniently than 8GB somehow.
ProbablyDylan (great usr name!) I’m about to build one as well in mini itx. Looking at the Jonesbo N3 For SAS I have lying around. What’s your build look like?

Those are list prices at release. Best Buy has pre-order incentives of $200 & $350 already available. These will also go on sale unlocked at deep discounts 3-4+ times a year at up to 30%+ off. good luck finding recent apple devices on sale at any meaningful discount.

Ahh, Gemini… the AI who enjoys re-writing European history into blatant falsehoods!

12-16gb RAM though, Apple still sells “Pro” laptops in 2024 with 8gb base RAM lolol

But, but we got more than one timer and a calculator on iPad. :D

Probably because android needs that ram to actually run smoothly.

These phones are ugly as expected.
They are almost identically designed phones with one having a pill shaped camera cutout while the other a tiny punch hole. And the differences in visor vs square back camera arrangements. Calling it ugly is pretty much admitting the iPhone is ugly.

I was comparing retail prices and none of those prices suggest an iPhone fold phone would be VP level ($3,499+) as the post I had responded to stated.

As far as Google Pixel discounts versus iPhone discounts (or lack of), I specifically mentioned that in one of my previous posts in this thread (#51):
"These are full retail prices. Unlike Apple with the iPhone, Google and Pixel retailers like Best Buy often discount current model Pixel phones several times during the year, and I'm not referring to "discounts" or "trade-in deals" tied to carriers."

It’s interesting to me that the screen sizes on the new Pixel Pro phones are basically the exact same as the iPhone 16 Pro models (6.3 and 6.8/6.9, the later likely a rounding measure). The brightness boost is also something rumoured to come to the iPhones, so it’s likely Samsungs Display’s new panels that are shipping here in the Pixels first and then will be in the iPhones.

They look like solid phones, and hopefully it pushes Apple to keep exploring folding phones and/or pushing their competitiveness in general.

Buah ha ha, the iPhone one of the lamest phones in existence today. I laugh every time someone breaks out a new one and tries to brag on it. I usually ask them to show me the iPhones multitasking and customization capabilities, which is when I really start cracking up! 🤣

why would anybody pay iphone prices for not an iphone level product? lol

As a person who owns every single generation of Pixel phone, I love it. Even the Pixel 2 still works well with custom ROM.

However, no one should by Pixel phone with that price. Sales usually starts around Christimas time and Google often has sales.

And I am arguing, Pixel worth the price. I some level, Pixel phone is better than iPhone.
