While I admit that Android does have some innovative features that seem to take a while before getting adopted by Apple...most Android systems are a dis-jointed mess that I couldn't imagine using on a daily basis. Thanks, but no thanks!
I often see and appreciate the technology in Android devices. But I’d never want to own it.

How do I enable iCloud Private Relay on an Android device? And how do I stop my data being slurped from its Google mothership?
Ahhhhh you know iCloud Private Relay ONLY applies to Safari and Apple Mail. Also iCloud Relay is still in BETA. Better just get a VPN and call it a day.

Don’t give Apple too much credit, remember when they launched Apple Maps —to much disaster— Google Maps was pulled from the App Store and it took a suspiciously long time for Apple to “review” the app and allow it back.

You’re mistaken there, Apple never removed Google maps from the App Store.
Apple removed *their own* Google maps client from the iPhone. It was a Google maps client developed by Apple, that came built-in to every iPhone between 2007 and 2012. It was never on the App Store, and it was developed by Apple, not Google.
Google just took an extraordinarily long amount of time to put their own version of Google maps on the App Store after Apple‘s client was discontinued.
Same thing happened with YouTube. Apple removed the client that they had developed from iOS, and Google created their own client for the App Store. The only difference was they got that one out much quicker than Google maps

For every negative comment here, there is an Android forum jumping for joy.
It is stupid for MacRumors to even go here.
It just lets everyone claim how Apple is King and everything else is junk.
I have iPad. I have Android. I'm going to ditch iPad one day and never return.
To each his/her own.
I can do things with Android and have one hand behind my back, not stand on my head trying to figure out how to do the same with iPad.
In my opinion Tim Cook is trying to make you all afraid.
Been using Android since 2017.
Don't use apps that have my data. Instead I go the long way and use my web browser and login.
I've said this before. Apple has more of my data than Google.
Had to give my data to Apple to create an ID or never use my old iMac.
Google knows my name. Period.
After all these years, Microsoft only knows my name.

Android? Eeeeewwwww.

Why would I invite a company to collect data on virtually every aspect of my online life? No thanks.
Mind you, Apple hasn't exactly distinguished itself regarding privacy issues of late.

Well, I came close to considering switching this year.

Although macOS and the MacBook Pro are by far the best desktop OS and laptop, the iPhone and iOS are not so obviously superior to the competition to me anymore.
Let's have some examples and carefully note what you would be giving it up to get these superior features. You can't drop a grenade like this without solid examples.

It’s just not going to happen without iMessage. I currently rotate a 12 Pro Max, Pixel 6 and S21 Ultra and *every* time I’m not using the iPhone I get bullied passive aggressively into changing back just to silence the peanut gallery.

I have never used an android phone. I went from old-school motorolas to iPhone 3G.

Is there a recommended best-in-class android phone? I’m tempted to get one as a second device - on a different network, to cover for poor signal locations. And just to be a bit more informed about how they work.
I feel like I have a lot of prejudices about different android manufacturers.. Samsung too expensive for what they are. Huawei too risky. Etc. any suggestions for a Shortlist?
Why not get a mid-range Samsung or OnePlus? Or get the Pixel 6a when it arrives within 1-3 months.

I just love the echo chamber here at Macrumors. Nothing is wrong with iOS or Android phones its all preference. I own both devices and they have their plus and minuses. Get Real.

Completely agree. They act like Android is the worst thing ever.

Got news for them, they're trying to keep their data "secured" but use the internet, facebook and so on so everything is already out there.

And Android isn't anywhere near as bad as it once was. It really has matured.

Are your "friends" like 15 year olds who vomit ? at the sight of the green bubble? Tell them to hike! There's far more important things to care about than someone's phone and messaging bubble color! Luckily, most of my friends here in Canada use Instagram or Facebook Messenger.

Good luck with that.

As someone with an Android tablet, I'm looking forward to getting an iPad mini, sooner rather than later.
Depends on what you do with the tablet. I'm hearing they're much more affordable, have some unique features, and great for the basics like browsing, social media, whatever. I myself could've gotten one, but decided to get a 9th gen Ipad instead. That said, if you're going Android, recommend to try out their phones. There's a lot of variety out there that there's bound to be something for everyone. I myself like Android too much to give it up!

IMO, I think Apple makes the best tablets out there, though I have a Android phone (Samsung Galaxy A53) and a windows PC. Sometimes going multiplatform brings the best of everything those platforms offer.

It's a beta that works brilliantly well. I thought it was just for Safari, which suits me just fine. And it doesn't cost me any extra, unlike a VPN. And it's quicker than most VPNs, courtesy of Cloudflare/Akamai. I will sooner end the day running around in circles waving my socks in the air than needlessly pay for a VPN.

People tend to move up market and not down, but maybe they're banking on economic collapse in the coming years, lol.
