Sorry to burst your LOL-MS-SUCKS bubble, but Office is still the best Office suite out there, servers with Windows Server OS are still being sold, there are hardly any good alternatives to Exchange or Sharepoint.....

While I don't disagree that Exchange and Sharepoint are good, I would like to see how you're arriving at "no good alternatives" and how Office is the best office suite. What metrics are you using?

And no, OpenOffice or Lotus Notes is nowhere near as useful as MS Office is.

According to who? Entire government agencies are switching to either Open Office or Google Docs. Apparently they feel it is useful.

Windows Vista was a media failure, if you happened to use >SP1 you would have noticed how many of the issues were solved already. Windows 7 is just Vista but less resource intensive, faster and a bit easier to use. The same paradigm is still there.

Yes, Windows 7 is Vista but less resource intensive, etc. That's a pretty huge distinction though, since Vista is/was an absolute pig.

The Google press event today is called "Android press event" and not "Google Nexus One press event". So I expect at least one more thing.... :D

*sigh*

If the Nexus One supported AT&T's 3G bands, I'd be ordering one right now. Dunno why they went with T-Mobile only if they're selling it unlocked.

I'd think the chipset they use for Vodaphone would support AT&T's 3G bands. Guess we'll find out in "Spring 2010"?

Yup. The Google phone comes to Verizon. AT&T had better be doing some spending now because the Google phone on Verizon IS an iPhone killer.
Or a Droid killer?! :)

I probably can't, but it'd be cool if I could get the unlocked Nexus One and put it on Verizon.

I wanna get one of these, but I don't want the huge payments every month. I have Wifi almost all the time. I'd rather put it on a prepaid plan.

Did they say if these things use a dual 3gpp/cdma radio?

Let's Go Mets.

Its coming to Verizon (Spring 2010), and Verizon has month-to-month (no contract) plans. You'll have to pay for the device unsubsidized, but it'll work on Verizon as good as any other smartphone.

I don't believe so. I'm assuming there are 2 versions. I was just wondering if I can buy an unlocked CDMA version and use it on a cheap plan on Verizon, no data. I get Wifi almost 24/7, so I really don't need to pay for it.

And Go Mets indeed.

I'll be up for a new phone a few months after it gets to Verizon, so I may do that. Unless of course there is another Android phone that comes out that's better or the iPhone gets to Verizon this summer. Thanks.

I don't know if they are selling the CDMA version unlocked. You really just want it unsubsidized, so you can pay-as-you-go.

We need pitching.

People need to recognize that any Android offering doesn't NEED to "beat" the iPhone... it just needs to slowly saturate the market and keep lowering their prices. If Google can undercut Apple's price using ad-based subsidies... then "killing" the iPhone will happen slowly, without ever really overcoming any perceived "advances" Apple may or may NOT have over it. So... price, please. That's the REAL question.

Cleverboy, I like the clever post. You are correct, the initial cause may not be the "iPhone Killa," but it merely advances android to share some of the market.

...and thus, hopefully lowered prices and the possibility of even more innovation will be sparked by some Google competition!

I can't wait to pay for those lowered prices by listening to a few Google AdWords every time I place a call. :(

Pay now, pay later. I'd rather pay now.

I doubt it will cannibalize the Droid's sales too much, as the Droid caters to those who still want a hardware keyboard.

Based on my limited time with the Droid keyboard as well as reviewer and user comments, the Droid doesn't do very well at catering to hardware keyboard aficionados.

Of course it isn't.

Its UI is way behind the iPhone's. Unintuitive and messy (even ugly in some places), and no multitouch. The fact that in the video the reviewer at times had to touch the same button multiple times isn't a good sign, either.

It'll improve, but Apple already has the market figured out for the next 5 years. Count on it.

I didn't realize you were a UI design expert. We have so many here, it's hard to keep track.

Remember, apple did apply for forced full screen ads that you must interact with to carry on using your device so you may get your wish with their recent aquisition! ;)

Wait, what's this...the Nexus One won't support tethering? What???

"The Nexus One also won’t support tethering, a much sought after feature. Rubin said the lack of tethering isn’t a technical issue but a business issue." - Macworld

What happened to "totally open?" What happened to "the carriers can't control Android?"

Looks like Google's God Phone isn't as omnipotent as everyone thought.

:p
