im sorry but Google Maps on Android destroys TomTom/Navigon out of the water. And now with vector support, offline cache mode, and better UI overhaul, its now even better.

EDIT: I don't think you've used 'Navigation' on Android. Its by far a superior navigation application than TomTom/Magellan. Hands down.

Haha, no. TomTom and Navigon are much better. Google Maps obviously gives you more bang for your buck seeing as it's free, but you'd have to be endlessly daft to compare it to TomTom or Navigon.

as stated for the fourth time on this thread, i'm comparing Android's 'Navigation' application to the TomTom.

It looks as though almost everyone in here is not aware that there is a standalone navigation app on Android that doesn't exist on iOS.

Again, its called 'Navigation,' not 'Google Maps.' Its not available on iOS, its an android exclusive application. Its one of the main reasons why I chose Android over iOS.

This guy is right. Those who dont have Android dont know the difference. I have BOTH Google Maps AND Navigation on my phone.

Beating around the bush, are we? You know damn well I meant Navigation.

Also, oh hey, you're that troll who makes Android threads in the iPhone section and makes claims that are largely anti-Apple, undoubtedly in an attempt to remove some insecurities. I've had an argument with you before. Still going, huh?

Specs are impressing, phone design is still far away from apple iphone 4.

I actually didn't know, as you referred it to 'Google Maps,' not 'Navigation,' as Google Maps is implying your native Google Maps application.

I only make android threads to show non-android users what its all about. I'm not anti-Apple. I love Apple. I love my iPad giving 11+ hours of battery life. I'm just not a rabid enthusiast for ONE particular company. I'm a 'tech enthusiast.' Its really about whoever makes the best product for the user, regardless of its corporate entity.

I'm hardly insecure with the products I own. I've used the iPhone heavily since the 1st gen release back in '07, as well as other iDevices, most recently the iPad.

All of this is exciting news, whether you're an apple or google enthusiast. This is only benefiting us as consumers.

So to this I say,

Mobile Phone/Tablet War, Begun It Has!

Okay, apologies then.

But why say stuff like "it doesnt look like iOS (thank god)." It just sounds extremely smug and, well, biased. It's widely said that iOS's UI is still unmatched by any other OS except MAYBE WebOS. Android is still light years behind in terms of polish.

Like a dumb blonde, iP4 looks pretty but doesn't have much to offer as far as intelligence.

Are you really that daft or are you joking?

I wish I had the power to ignore people posting rubbish but damn it I can't.

Google maps and nav is easily superior to tom tom and navigon because its integrated into the OS. That means you can launch the nav or mapping programs from a web link or voice command or search.

Now that google maps 5 will let u cache maps locally, there really is no reason to choose tom tom or navigon if you have the choice.

Your right. They forgot to add glass on both sides so it will break equally as easy as the iPhone. What were they thinking using that Gorilla glass that is much sturdier

It's better when it comes to OS integration, sure, but overall as an app to get you from A to B, mixed with the traffic information and IQ routing, TomTom is, aside from OS integration, better in every single other aspect.

Add glass and make it heavy as a brick.

The other nice thing about my Vibrant is how light it is. If I drop it, it won't shatter into a gabillion pieces from the force of the impact

Shouldn't compare Nexus-S with iPhone4.
iPhone1 > iPhone4 in every aspect.
The topic should be

Google Nexus-S vs. iPhone-1 Anybody?

And Apple calls their OS's names of Felines.... The Nexus S is nice, It's sold unlocked so you can use it with any carrier, If I was getting an Android phone it would be this one since it's hyped by Google, but I'm still surviving with my iPhone

Have you even used Google Navigation?

Why the hell can't the iPhone get a free navigation app like androids...

I tried Google Navigation when I had an HTC desire and IMO it blew chunks. In fact, it was so bad I bought Copilot so I could get decent navigation. The voices sound like something from the 1980s (horrible, computer generated ones), there's no traffic support in the UK, and some of the routing was very strange

Also, whilst Streetview at intersections may look cool, it's not as clear as the overhead lane view you get from Copilot.

Personally, I think Navigation is OK as a freebie, but it's a long way behind applications like CoPilot and TomTom.
