Google Now is brilliant, I like the traffic updates when I am about to leave work :D But how dare Google betray us Androids fans!

I feel the same way. Google could easily keep their tech to themselves, pushing users toward Android, but instead put tons of energy and time toward iOS. Maps pre-iOS6 is a great example of this. I don't think Google expected the huge drop in maps after Apple dropped their services. Maybe it's happening with Siri too.

Everyone keeps mentioning how reviews have said Google Maps looks better on iOS, what everyone fails to bring up: The Google devs who made the damn thing said the iOS version is superior! Android has the vast amount of market share, but the numbers about browser usage don't lie. Google makes their money from you using their services, and somehow more people are using them on iOS than they are Android. They would be stupid to ignore the iOS user base, and therefore not only will we get everything Android does, but we'll likely get the better version. It's like Office 2011 all over again.

Didn't they say the iOS version of Maps was visually superior? Because there are still features on the Android version that's missing on the iOS version, so I can't understand how the iOS version could be superior when it comes to features and functionality.

Some features that the Android version has got and the iOS version lacks:

- Offline maps
- Bike navigation option
- Possibility to measure distance between two or more optional points on the map.

Yeah! I had the same issue when I first got mine, just say "Listen to [artist, album or song title]." and then click whichever app you want to use. It's really that simple.

Ok, Siri is probably better at letting you listen to music, but that's not the primary purpose of Google Now, is it?

I don't see what Google Now does that Siri isn't doing for me already. The key to Siri is to have as much information as possible on your address book and iCalendar. Siri reads my texts and e-mails, tells me how long it will take for me to get to the office and provides Turn by Turn directions, checks my calendar for appointments and notifies my when I'm near a client's office that I told Siri I need to visit.

All this without my information being used to sell me things I don't want nor need.

Maybe Siri does all that for you, but not for me. I don't use Siri, because Siri isn't available in my language. And even if Siri did, i use Google Calendar. And I can get all of the info from Google Now without having to talk to some imaginary friend in my phone when I'm out around people.

I believe Google Now can be great for many iOS users. Especially those with open minds and those who like variation and ability to choose. But maybe this is because I come from Android phones and have been used to have choices about how to do things on my phones before. Some long time iOS users seem to be very narrow minded and locked into "their world". Same thing that many US users only see iOS as theirs and how things work there.

The world is big and iOS is wide spread all over the world (not just as much as in the US though). Options are good. Some people should realize that just because some functions and apps works great for them doesn't equal that it works great for all users.

It's the same as with Apples Maps that some say they work fine and can't believe that others complain about it, even calling them liars. Sure, that may be the case where they live. But the problem is that it's not all that great in other parts of the world.

It's a shame Google are allowing Android apps to be available on iOS, but I guess it's more people to advertise to.

Exactly why?

I do not think it is a good idea to be served personalised results. I believe that people should be exposed to information outside of their "box".

I sell books for a living and it gives me a chance to discover a large scope of various information-streams. It often bothers me that the bestsellers are usually the ones advertised the most. There are other truly great books out there. You know, the essential reads. But as a consumer/google-user/facebook-subscriber, you are simply not made aware, if you are not searching directly for that specific information, in the first place. It seems to me that you are made aware of what someone wants you to sell and what you are most likely to buy, figuratively speaking.:)

I try to maintain an open mind and I believe google helps many people, but since it's all free, at what cost?:)

This is what the swipe-down menu on the iPhone should be. Stocks and weather is just the beginning.

Google Hivemind. Now with more Creepy.

That was my reaction - all those functions are a huge opportunity to provide a lot of information about you and your personal life to Google.

Although I think it's strange that there are some people who know this and have no problems with it, what's really awful is the number of people who have no idea and would never approve all the information about them that gets sent to Google.

Different strokes for different folks. Not everybody needs a phone that's almost the size of a tablet, has NFC and tons of other wireless stuff other than Wi-Fi and BT, can shoot lasers, connects to Skynet, etc.

Eh? Your missing the point because the iPhone is compact and can do ALL of that bar the NFC at present, oh and the lasers, not so sure about Skynet haha

Anyway, it is rather disturbing how Android makers seem insistent on making all their halo phones 5" now as standard :eek: that's the size of the original Note! It's a very big device for a pocket. Expect a 5" S4 tomorrow and they reckon the Note 3 will be 6"... stupid sizes.
