What happened to apple in the store trade-in? Are they still do that? Try ordering online but the trade-in will be mailed in only.

Personally, I wouldn't have second thoughts about trading in an Aston Martin Cygnet

for a Honda Civic Type R

Well considering the Cygnet is a 10 year old, low-powered compliance car, a rebadged Toyota/Scion iQ with a fancier interior, it makes sense that you would trade for a new Civic Type R if you actually care about performance and want something that looks decent and is modern.

Does anyone know what Google does to those iPhones? Seriously, will they destroy them under their marketing budget? Handing them out or reselling them would obviously contradict their promotion goal.

I am guessing they'll recycle them.

Outside of a niche group of geeks and hardcore Android users, Pixel phones just don't register on the market.

I live in a VERY tech-savvy region of the United States and I don't believe I've ever seen a Pixel product "out in the wild", but plenty of iPhones and Galaxy phones.

Wow the fanboys are certainly out in droves today. Comparing your iPhone to an Aston? Get real...
You would need 10-15k to try a Pixel? Hahaha what? Wanna take you people camping without an iPhone and Apple watch and see who has a panic attack first.

For the past 5 years phones have been so similar that there isn't much difference. It just depends on what ecosystem suits you better. I have friends that "swear" their iPhone photos are better and others that "swear" their Pixel photos are better. They are so subjective and close in most cases.

Also, it isn't that Google is advertising this deal across their front page. They just happen to offer it as an option alongside their own phones, Samsung, etc. Pretty sure it's a third-party company handling the trade-in offers as usual. This is a borderline click-bait article.

Why would I want to trade in a great product for an inferior one?

Yeah let me go ahead and trade in my Aston Martin for a Honda Civic while I am at it.
I’m shocked such juvenile opinions exist in allegedly mature adults (broad assumption here) in 2022, but, here we are.

Go try and use Siri for anything but a basic task and you’ll wish you had a Honda Civic after that debacle.

I love my 6 Pro. Taking the 600 dollar credit and gonna check out the 7 Pro. A more refined version of an already stellar phone? I’m down.

It is funnier to see someone who clearly dislikes Apple and Apple customers frequent a website designed for Apple enthusiasts.
Yet here you are commenting in a couple of articles about the latest Google offerings, while letting your absurd dislikes for anything non-Apple shine through. Ironically on an Apple-centric site that has a place for non-Apple enthusiasts to relax in.

Quite some cojones to throw those stones from that house.

Quite indeed.

To be fair they're offering a lot more than Apple. But I'd rather cut off my left leg with a rusty farm implement.
I wouldn’t say they offer a lot more. Apple offers $720 for the same trade in. And Apple can give you a gift card that you can also use elsewhere for other Apple purchases whereas here you have to buy a specific phone.

Desperate much?
Google's desperation has kicked in. This is a downgrade in so many levels :(

iPhone is way too valuable.

What is so desperate about it? Google is just offering what appears to be fair market value and will probably wholesale trade-ins (at least non-Pixel phones) to resellers. I don't think Google actually expects many, if any, to trade their 13 Pro Max anyway but it is a way for them to promote "up to $750 off" a Pixel 7 with trade-in.

It's not unusual for phone makers and electronics retailers to promote trade-in values. At least it's not some inflated trade-in value like various carriers push.

All I know is Swappa just sucks now with the fees/taxes. my 13 Pro Max sold for about $950 and I got just around $768 absolutely brutal.
Used to love Swappa. I used them for 10 years. But you’re right, what you used to save there over eBay has withered away. Then you have to worry if your shipment gets there okay. If the buyer will like it and if you’ll have to start over if they don’t. Too much stress. I just trade in carefree now and take a loss.
