Look like the Verge is subscription only? I used to browse their articles alot. But haven't been there in a while.

Bummer. You used to be able to read them in an RSS reader if it was one that could download full text, but looks like they found out how to block that too. I am going to have to remove them from my news sources. They have lost a lot of good talent in the last few years and their parent company gutted Polygon, so not paying them anything for sub par tech reporting.

Skimming through several reviews, seems the overall conclusion is; it's not a worthy upgrade from the 9 Pro or even 8 Pro, and battery life is no better whatsoever, and performance feels the same as the last couple of of Pixel Pro phones. Most reviewers saying it's a side-grade at best.

The Verge's review is pretty positive! "There was a time, particularly in the Tensor era, where using a Pixel phone felt a little bit like being an early adopter, and not in a good way. The prices were lower, but the hardware felt cheaper, software bugs persisted, and the chipsets ran hot. But the Pixel series has evolved into something better, something worthy of the title “flagship.” If the 10 Pro represents the best of what Android can do, then there’s a lot for Android fans to look forward to — whether it’s on a Pixel or not."

I guess the only thing it's lacking is good battery life, but the camera sounds better, tensor G5 appears to not run as hot as the other tensor chips before it and the hardware is nicer ☀️

Allison wrote in the comments that it still got fairly warm unfortunately. And PCmag’s standardized battery rundown hit 12h for the P10P XL vs 22h for the 16PM!

Damn, at this point I'm starting to believe that Android is the culprit, not even phones with silicon carbon batteries of around 6000 mah match or surpass the iPhone Pro Max's battery 🤕. Google needs to address this...

I read on some new reviews, that the P10P still gets hot, same as previous Pixel's.

Man this release just seems so underwhelming. I recall when we first heard Google say they were moving to TSMC in a few years, and then I was so pumped imagining what a crazy HUGE upgrade the future Pixel 10 line would be, and now were here, wah wah :(

And then add in the throttling Google will do to the Pixel 10 after 200 cycles of charging, ugh.

I think if mine is lost I will cancel, but the google rep was confident it will arrive...

not sure £646 after trade in is worth it for an extra 256gb storage and magsafe.

DPD are a bit more optimistic

The Verge's review;

Thermals I would say: good for a Pixel, still a little toastier than most flagships. I only got an overheating warning once when I was shooting a lot of Pro Res Zoom photos in direct sunlight on a 90 degree day which, yeah, that's fair. But it does feel a little warmer playing Diablo than on like, an S25.

Battery has been alright, again not up there with the best. I've been focused on the 10 Pro and my initial thought is that it seems to drain a little faster than I'd expect when it's on standby, but not to a degree that it actually impacted my life.

Does anyone from the UK have an invitation email for the Google event where they have included a rebate code for £150? If you are not using it, I will happily and appreciatively take it off you. Please DM me. Don't post it here. Thanks.

I can't wait to try out the camera.....
I am at the office and my 10XL is waiting for me at home right now..... :-(

Disappointing to see the reviews regarding battery life.......I was hoping Google would make it great. I need something that's on par with my iPhone 15 Pro Max.
