So that's a week in with my Pixel 10 Pro and it's everything I want in a phone, it's much like my 9 Pro was only better.

I've sold my s25 Ultra and iPhone 16 Pro so for the next year I will be a 1 phone guy. I'm done with the chopping and changing, for the 1st time ever I will not be getting one of the new iPhone models, although I am intrigued by the Air.

For now though I'm quite happy, just waiting for the Pixel watch 4 to arrive and I'll be sorted.

You must have real faith in the Pixel 10 Pro, especially if you were a 2 phone guy. I do really like the look of the Pixel 10 XL, but I'm heavy in the Apple ecosystem. I do also use a S24 Ultra as a second device.

2 phones, sometimes 3 or 4!

I have always preferred pixel UI, I can take or leave One UI and iOS is iOS.

This year I decided to try and see if i can go a year without wasting money on needless purchases that ultimately all do the same. That being said out of all the phones I've used over the years the Pixel experience is the one I choose to stick with.

This year the pixel 10 Pro ticks all the boxes for me.

Pro or Pro XL?

I'm so torn on returning my Pixel 10 Pro at the official Google Store I bought it from, in exchange for the Pro XL larger size.

I've had the larger XL size Pixel's from day one, the 2 XL, 3 XL, 4 XL, 6 Pro, 7 Pro, 8 Pro, 9 Pro XL.

But this time I wanted to go smaller, for easier use, comfortability, better one handed use, nicer fit in pockets, etc...and this 10 Pro checks all these boxes, but now 10 days with it, this phone just feels small, and seeing the screen I feel I could see a bit more or read easier on the XL size. I even turned the font size up larger but then that makes everything too weird and not right sometimes.

On one hand I like the smaller Pro to lift and pick up and go, text easier one handed, not as many "hand gymnastics" needed.

On the other hand it feels cramped, shrunk and like a squished down XL. But on the flipside sometimes with the XL I felt there was just large extra unused space for no real gain if that makes sense? Like yeah the phone is bigger, but I'm not gaining more info or stuff on the screen, and it's WIDER which is the tough part on big phones.

I think the return / exchange policy in store is 15 days? So I have to decide soon what to do

Opinions?

One interesting thing on the size of a Pro vs. Pro XL are cases.

On the Pro XL's a case made an already large phone feel even bigger or bulkier. Where with this smaller Pro a case actually feels good, like more comfortable, it doesn't impact the overall size as much it seems.

The official Google silicone case on my 9 Pro XL makes that phone feel extra large like a huge thing in your hand or pocket. But the Google PixelSnap silicone case on my regular 10 Pro feels comfortable and easy to hold, and doesn't seem to make the phone feel a lot bigger or heavier or anything.

Personally, I’ll never go from a larger device to a smaller one, but that’s me. Ultimately, it’s your decision. But one thing you haven’t mentioned is battery life… if battery is not a issue, stay on the smaller device.

Because from your early on impressions… you seem very into it.

I would personally go with the larger phone and if you are like me where you're very good with your phones I tend to go with a carbon fiber case where it just keeps the phone so minimal that you don't notice the bulk. Right now I have a Thinborne case on my Fold 7 and Pitaka on iPhone 15PM it's a game changer IMO

Larger phone for my old eyes is a must

You upgrading the 15PM this year??
I'm sticking with my 15 haha I really don't need the upgrade and the only phone that I would consider trying just having something different would be the iPhone 17 Air. I'm hearing that the iPhone 18 is going to have a smaller dynamic Island as well as under screen face recognition at least that's the rumors. At the same time we shall see if that foldable creeps around the corner.
Verizon is offering me $1,100 for my phone but I don't want to lock in for 3 years unless it's a foldable

Do you really see that much extra on the XL version? personally I've never found it to make that much of a difference in day to day use!

Coming from a pro max and s25u, I feel the xl is more comfortable in the hand now that I’ve had it a few days. It feels almost compact to me.

I’ve tried the smaller phone route before, briefly had a 14 &15 pro but it didn’t last, I just prefer the bigger real estate on the xl phones. I’m only a few years from being 50 so my eyes will appreciate the bigger screen now doubt

Let's say I do decided to return and exchange my 10 Pro to the 10 Pro XL

I bought mine from an official retail Google Store shop. I'm lucky to live in a city that has one of these stores nearby me.

Can I just bring in my phone and ask to return it and exchange for the 10 Pro XL? I purchased it like 10 or 11 days ago.

We never “need” the upgrade though lol… but why not sell off the 15 or trade it to Best Buy instead of doing the Verizon trade in.

I know if I were in your shoes… I’ll go for the iPhone Air.

Reading glasses... I'm 50 and I have to have them for any phone.

Definitely switch DNS back to auto and that should solve your connection issues.
Yeah but then I have to deal with ads. 😂 I’ll cope without my work WiFi—cellular signal is strong and works just fine. 😏

Trade in values not so great imo without the carrier

So I have filled all fields in, I have left anonymous identity blank, then tried putting my identity into that section.

No matter what I seem to do, it gives me an authentication fault and doesn't allow me to log on
