Been thinking about a way around this like pinhole or something.
My solution has been to set private DNS to dns.adguard-dns.com and install a quick setting to toggle it on and off (takes a bit of work to setup: Fdroid, custom repo, Shizuku). Granted I just leave it on 99% of the time and it works fine.

Are any of you using lense protectors for the camera glass like Spigen offers?

Pixel 10 pro xl ordered. S25U has sold.

First pixel I've had in years so looking forward to trying it out. I hung on in case anything from apple event lured me back but sadly nothing did

This is how I'm feeling. I watched the Apple event and I'm not impressed, in fact I was disappointed with the 17 series. The only thing I've ordered is the AirPods Pro 3, they were the best announcement in my opinion. Love my AirPods Pro 2.

Phone wise tho I've not been impressed with much this year. I'm thinking about trying the Pixel 10 and trading in my S24 Ultra towers to it.

I was initially unimpressed with the Apple announcements and 24 hours later I'm still not impressed per se but in a vacuum, the iPhone hardware is pretty good--I'm just focused personally on the folding phone market.

The regular iPhone 17 has a great pair of cameras and big improvement to the front camera, now has 120 Hz refresh, bigger batteries and doubled the starting storage for the same price.

The Pro phones, while IMO pretty ugly, saw camera improvement all around, bigger battery, more durable build quality.
The Air...well that's just Apple trying to show off some technical build chops. But if you want a good thin and light phone, you now have an option.

Again, nothing wowed me but I don't find Apple's iterations in hardware any less impressive vs what Google and Samsung did with their traditional phones this year.

Now software and 'AI', that's a different story...;)

Funny I can see your point but feel the opposite and I think it may have to do with the fact I haven't had an iPhone since the 13 pro max. Yes the design is the same but for the regular iPhone is in my opinion a big deal.

Apple is putting Pro motion on iPhone 17 what does this mean for the MBA??

I have a limited budget and for the first time ever I am considering a non pro phone from Apple. I don't use the cameras that often but when I do close pics in motion and portraits are usually it. Regular iPhone does that well. Video is the other thing and Apple does video stabilization pretty good.

Pixel is the only competition camera wise and I feel like the Pixel 10 and iPhone 17 are close in terms of how I use a camera.

The problem for me with Pixel line is still the Tensor and I still don't trust Google hardware as I have had a lot of issues I never had with any other brand and customer service sucks when things go wrong. Paying top dollar for Pixel basically the same as iPhone is a hard pill for me to swallow because I think Google still needs to prove their hardware chops. Software they got down as good as Apple. I love Pixel OS. I also love iOS.

So for me this time around an iPhone 17 with pro motion 8 gb ram and latest a series chip sounds pretty good to me.

I actually like the iPhone 17 pro in orange. Looks pretty cool to me. But the regular iPhone colors are always the best.

As a general agreement besides iPhone 17 all of the new phone releases by all brands seem are underwhelming more than previous years??

Myself a die-hard Nexus/ pixel guy I can appreciate and applaud Apple on the new iPhone 17 line. It has amazing hardware. Great camera, fast performance but also efficient. Great battery life. It looks to be a really great smartphone.

To me though, the operating system is even more important than hardware and that's where it immediately falls off a cliff. iOS blows. My opinion.

I'll take vanilla stock Android all day long over iOS.

But I do agree the pixel hardware has always been lacking and even my pixel 10 Pro. I wish they use the latest Snapdragon processor and stop with this tensor garbage.

But I'll take slower lesser hardware with stock Android over better hardware and iOS.

I think slab phones have gone as far as they can go, I do think that's Apple's problem as well. However I'm very skeptical in regards to foldable phones. That's not to say I don't think Apple could make a great one, I think they have been holding out this long in order to perfect the crease and everything else. Of course Apple will put their own Apple spin on the foldable and the market will probably go nuts for foldable phones.

I have a 15 Pro Max as my daily phone, I didnt really see all that much of a reason to upgrade to the 17 Pro Max. Normally I would upgrade yearly or every other year. I did however buy the AirPods Pro 3, to me that was a decent upgrade. I love my AirPods Pro 2 and practically live with them in my ears.

I have been thinking about the Google Pixel 10 and trading in my S24 Ultra towards it, as I do like an Android phone as a second device.

Anybody else notice that Screen on Time under Battery Usage gets kind of wonky? A couple days ago it was saying I had 100% usage from 7a-12p. I rebooted and it seemed to go back to measuring normally. Screen Time under Apps is more accurate, but doesn't include the time I spend on the home screen it seems, so the two measurements never match. Never had a day where I needed Battery Saver, so just some unhealthy paranoia here.

Just set up. Sort of feels a bit too narrow. Could be because I'm used to s25U and iPhone 16pm

How is everyone getting on with their Pixels 10s, in particular the Pixel 10 Pro XL? How is battery life?

Hit and miss, slightly better than pixel 9 pro XL, average 6 hours, sometimes 8 hours of screen on time, sometimes 4 hours. Really depends on if I'm at home on WiFi or out and about. P10p xl and I use basic maths\rounding to work out sot so not 100 % exact figures.
