So I tried Chrome for OS X yesterday. Meh. I really don't like that there isn't adblock and that I cant change fonts/font size. The text is so effing little! There didn't seem to be smooth-scrolling, or a noticeable speed difference.

I couldn't see myself using it over Safari or Firefox (which I use mostly for streaming videos) at least while still in beta.

Seems snappier to me. I'm using a Cricket Wirless 3G connection and after using it for a while it seems that Safari has a lot of background connection activity going on. So at least for me Chrome is nice and quicker to use. I just wish there was RSS support...

Interface looks a little plain in my opinion.

Also, I don't like the little icons next to my Toolbar Bookmarks... yes, I'm fussy lol.

It asks for permission to use Keychain. I give permission. It does nothing. I have to type in account names and it realizes it has a pwd.

It's homely. There's too much white space between items on the bookmarks bar, the fonts in drop down menus are TOO BIG. The fake "native" widgets are badly matched to the OS.

Preferences are ****. This is Mac OS X, not Vista. We do not BOLD: and a scrollable preferences pane? Google must DIAF for this.

Why does the Ars homepage show up twice in the new tab page, can't it sort out dupes?

On my hardware Javascript is 13% slower in Chrome than Safari 4.0.4.

No Services support?

Did I mention it's hideous?

a js benchmark tells you nothing. computerworld can change its name to ignorant world for misleading and confusing basic fundamentals of internet.

I was about to say "WTF", when I saw that Camino was in last place.

since a lot of people use their computers to interact with the internet and the web browser is the primary vehicle for navigating the web, it makes sense that people would care about the performance, functionality, and user interface of their browser. and having many to choose from helps each person find the best one for them.

That's exactly the point - web browsers are such hum-drum every day things that excitement about YA-Browser seems kind of daft. Where's the excitement and anticipation about Thunderbird 3.0? It's been even longer in coming than Chrome, and is about as different from Thunderbird 2.0 as Chrome is compared to Safari. Yet, no mention of it on the main MR news articles (it may have appeared as a lesser item in the little sidebars). Not that Chrome might not be good, but it's just another browser. My emails, stocks and kittehs won't look any different. And if they do, that means it's doing it wrong.

its google's way of "keep you updated", I call that big brother and say "thanks, but no thanks"

I cant seem to find a compiled copy of this, just the source. I feel like an idiot, but do you have a link for the app you can send me?

Much quicker

Thumbs up for me. Ping times from South Africa for anything Google are on average 300ms, and Firefox and Safari regularly hangs with no response due to this. From what I can assume over the last 10 minutes, Chrome seems to kick arse, pages are loading instantly. What a luxury!

Yea I still like Safari so far but remember Chrome is just a beta right now and the little things that people having issues with will be fix and will be better I really like the themes and how the tabs look, but this is also good for Safari also the better Chrome gets the more updates for Safari.:)

Anyway to sync My CHrome Bookmarks with my Google Account?

Anyway to sync my Chrome Bookmarks with my Google Account?

I've searched the web for this, and it seem all results are for the windows version of chrome only. Is this not possible yet with the Beta for Mac? Any help with this is greatly appreciated

Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere but is anyone else having problems with the Flash plugin? Every time I go onto youtube or iplayer it crashes. I know its only in beta but this is the one thing that is stopping me from using chrome as my primary browser.

ive been using chrome for a few weeks now and I have to say that I love it! Ive had so many problems with safari I had to give up on it.
