Does anyone have any problems with youtube videos playing when Flashblock extension is installed?

I'll click on the flash button icon to play the video but the video becomes all choppy.

You must be quite young :) There have been many browsers far worse than Safari.

I remember being amazed by the speed bump Netscape 2.0 provided over Mozilla on my powerbook 520. Netscape crashed about every fourth page load, but it was still worth using considering the first IE for mac was even less reliable!

I think Chrome gets more right than any other browser. It's great to have four solid competitors in the space. I just hope Firefox can catch up in terms of speed and keep MSFT, AAPL, and GOOG honest.

The best part about Chrome... 'Surveillance by secret agents' is listed as one thing going Incognito (private browsing mode) does not protect you from

what is the benefit of using chrome over safari?
Having a separate process for each tab/window adds a significant security advantage, as well as a reliability advantage (e.g. if a plugin crashes). On OSX, the only disadvantage to zillions of processes is a little more pressure on memory- the extra processes cost almost nothing. (Same on Linux). On Windows XP or earlier versions, too many processes may cause significant overhead/performance problems. AFAIK, that isn't such a problem on Vista/W7.

Overall, I'm not sure which is more secure on OSX. Safari is native 64-bits, and you can find a 64-bit Mozilla/Minefield beta on some days. Chrome is 32-bits-- potentially less secure against certain types of attacks; but, the separate processes are an advantage.

I downloaded it and the version number is exactly the same as the beta, did my beta update itself in the background?

and sadly

still not available for G5's that have a dual 2.7 ghz PowerPC processor. oh wellz, too bad for me i guess

Agreed. People should turn off Flash. Almost all it is used for is advertising and glitz. The web is far more pleasant without Flash, Java and other plugins. It's like the difference between watching a DVD (with fast forward) and Television (blah).

You watch your DVD's at a faster rate than 1x? Wha--? I think I'm a bit confused.

Anyway, very glad to see there's finally a stable release. Not sure if I'll ever move from Firefox, but I'm excited to see what they've done with it after having so many problems with it for such a long while...
