Well my comment was more about the fact homekit DOESN'T work with many things, it only works with ONE smart tech I own and that's HUE.

I have a Nest, smart plugs, etc.

For example a simple "Turn on the fan" that one of my plugs is connected really isn't asking for much, but because of the walled garden (pros and cons yes, but for a damn outlet come on now) it's a tough go.

Clearly the Nest is legit and secure, but an Apple competitor so let's not support that right? Thank you super hip 60 year old dudes on Apple's design team.

As for HUE, the commands are limited in the sense that it's not very smart. You can't say "turn on bedroom lights to 50%" in one go, or whatever variable you wanted for that matter.

Instead, you'd have to say "turn on bedroom lights" (then wait for it to happen) then say "lights 50%" so it's not incredibly user friendly or smart in that regard.

You're just plain wrong about Siri/Homekit and lights. I have 10 lights with HomeKit control, 6 with dimmers including Hue, iDevices and Leviton wall switches. ALL of them can be controlled by saying "Hey Siri, turn on (room name) lights 30%"

I owned a Nest thermostat and happily switched to an Ecobee which provided me with far finer control including the furnace fan. Ecobee has long had remote temp sensors that also sense movement. It's just much more sophisticated. And finally the Nest has all the security/privacy that Google can provide...what a joke!

And my HomeKit devices are limited to:
Smoke/Monoxide alarms
Front Door Lock
Garage Door Opener
Basement Leak Detector
Thermostat
5 rooms with indoor temp and motion sensors
Outdoor temp, humidity, air pressure sensors
Indoor Cameras with face recognition
Outdoor cameras with floodlights which detect people, animals, and vehicles
Indoor lighting of various types including dimming and color control where needed.
Various outdoor lighting controlled by daylight and/or motion and some with color control.

PS It's Nest's, I mean Google's choice not to support HomeKit.

I don’t think we can blame Apple for Nest not supporting HomeKit.
